During the 2008 election, the media sold Obama on two key points, repairing the economy, and bringing new focus and ideas into the war in Afghanistan. As the summer of 2010 fades, it's painfully clear that Obama has failed completely in both areas. Obama has come out on the wrong side of the economy. His administration's economic policies are based on the insane notion that the private sector needs to be taxed more in order to fund more government spending. When it's only private sector capitalism that has a shot at reviving the economy, not government spending. The Democrats mistook their own "tax and spend" rhetoric for reality, tripling the national debt, while ramming through smoking heaps of pork for themselves and their buddies. And so the economy is a disaster area, the public is angry, and the only answer the Democrats have for them is more of the same. But more of the same just won't cut it. The Democrats want to keep pushing the message that the...

The Muslim Hijacking of Ground Zero
Islam doesn't just hijack planes, it hijacks the things that mean something to people. The great cities of the world are littered with relics of the Muslim occupation of their sacred places. Jerusalem, Delhi, Constantinople and Alexandria all testify to the Muslim predilection for taking over other people's sacred places, and turning them into mosques. It wasn't enough for Muslims to conquer Jerusalem and subjugate its inhabitants. No, they also had to take the holiest place in Judaism and build a mosque on top of it. Similarly it wasn't enough for them to conquer and rename Constantinople, they also had to turn the Hagia Sophia into a mosque. These are not exceptions to the rule. In Asia, the Middle East and Europe, there are numberless examples of the same thing. To this day, Muslims continue seizing other people's places of worship and turning them into mosques. It's going on in Egypt today. It's going on in Yugoslavia where churches are being destroyed...

Friday Afternoon Roundup - The Pain in Spain Falls Mainly on US Taxpayers
While millions of Americans cut back on what they can spend on their vacation, Michelle Obama is concluding her last vacation with a new vacation trip along with 40 guests to Spain billed at a cost of 300,000 dollars a day . If Michelle Obama wants to go for a swim, an entire beach in Spain must be closed. Considering her busy working schedule of appearing on talk shows and then appearing on magazine covers, I think we can all agree that nine vacations is very modest. And the real tab gets much higher when you consider how many of the other unstated expenses are being picked up by "friends", which is usually a fancy way of saying people who expect favors in return, again at taxpayer expense. In some ways it is a relief to export Michelle Obama abroad where she can lecture the Spanish on eating right, before they deport her on the next boat out of there. At least it gives us a break from her, albeit a very expensive break. But what the endless vacations taken by the Obamas...

The Day the ACLU Joined Al Queda
December 1944. American artillery near the Belgian village of Losheim opens fire on advancing German troops during the Battle of the Bulge. Suddenly a jeep pulls up and a lawyer jumps out waving a piece of paper. " Stop what you're doing immediately! I represent Obersturmführer Gunther Stoltz down there, and I have an order here from Federal District Court Judge Gantz forbidding you from killing my client without due process in an American courtroom ." Insane yes, except that's just what the ACLU is after. Captured Muslim terrorists have never lacked for civil liberties lawyers in the past. Whether it was collective organizations like the ACLU or the CCR, or pro-terrorist lawyers like Lynn Stewart or Stanley Cohen , there has never been any shortage of lawyers eager to fight for terrorists in or out of a courtroom. From enthusiastic defenses for terrorists on trial to fighting for the rights of terrorists detained in US military custody outside the United States, g...

Religion of Peace
Words are tricky things. Virtually every tyrant, no matter how bloody, has talked about his plans for conquest in terms of "peace". For example in 1939, Nazi Germany and the USSR signed a declaration in which they described their conquest of Poland as creating "a sure foundation for a lasting peace in Eastern Europe". The same year that Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait, he delivered a speech at the Amman Summit in which he insisted that; " the Arabs seek peace and justice throughout the world ". And how can one argue with peace? The Romans had the Pax Romana, which meant peace under Roman dominion. The "peace" that Hitler, Stalin and Saddam have in mind, was of that same nature. Dictators and tyrannies, national or ideological, frame the world as chaotic and requiring order. Only under their leadership and only their way will the world finally experience peace. When Lenin stated that; " without overthrowing capital it is impossible to end ...

Confrontational Conservatism
Stephen Bainbridge and David Klinghoffer have both authored their respective pieces complaining about how the conservative has been taken over by vulgarians like Rush Limbaugh and Andrew Breitbart, and pining for the days of "smart, well-read, articulate leaders" like William F. Buckley, Jr. The problem with most people who turn once living men into stone idols and then worship them, is that they discard the reality of what those men really did, to bemoan the situation today. And when they do that, they discard useful lessons that might serve them in the present . But the real Buckley was a different man than the icon of conservatism he's been turned into. That Buckley had more than a little in common with Andrew Breitbart in his confrontational style, media savvy and casual arrogance. This was the William F. Buckley who ran for mayor of New York, only in order to defeat left wing Republican John Lindsay, who traded in incendiary rhetoric, while cleverly mocking bot...

Albion and Israel - In the Same Boat, or Running Aground
The British press is naturally outraged that Shimon Peres dared suggest that the British political establishment was pro-Arab and anti-Israel, and that MP's cowardly courted Muslim votes first. Peres has already been forced to apologize for his understatement. And an understatement it is, coming in the same week when British PM David Cameron visited Turkey, a Muslim country that has over 10,000 political prisoners , and continues to occupy Cyprus-- yet his only mention of human rights was to condemn Israel for defending itself against a Turkish provocation. So first let's look at what Peres actually said, because everyone in the British press from the Daily Mail to the Telegraph, are paraphrasing what he said, rather quoting or than linking to the original interview . Peres: Our next big problem is England. There are several million Muslim voters. And for many members of parliament, that’s the difference between getting elected and not getting elected. And in England there ...
