Friday Afternoon Roundup - Khadaffi Claims Parentage of Obama

Obama's hostility toward Israel seems to be inspiring a growing backlash among Jewish leaders who had previously supported Obama. For some like Ed Koch, the backlash is very vocal and passionate with quotes like these

"If Obama is seeking to build a siege ramp around Israel, the Jews of modern Israel will not commit suicide."

and these

"President Obama "wants to make Israel a pariah state."

But more than just writing articles, Koch's vocal outrage helped open the doors to a larger communal response. Foxman is supposedly muttering about a march on Washington in support of Israel, similar to what took place early in Bush's term. Ronald Lauder penned a courteous, but unmistakable letter to Obama. Now even Elie Wiesel is speaking out.

For me, the Jew that I am, Jerusalem is above politics. It is mentioned more than six hundred times in Scripture — and not a single time in the Koran. Its presence in Jewish history is overwhelming. There is no more moving prayer in Jewish history than the one expressing our yearning to return to Jerusalem. To many theologians, is IS Jewish history, to many poets, a source of inspiration. It belongs to the Jewish people and is much more than a city, it is what binds one Jew to another in a way that remains hard to explain. When a Jew visits Jerusalem for the first time, it is not the first time; it is a homecoming. The first song I heard was my mother’s lullaby about and for Jerusalem. Its sadness and joy are part of our collective memory.

The larger point of course is that Obama and his J Street allies thought that putting pressure on Israel to abandon Jerusalem was no different than putting pressure on Israel to abandon Judea, Samaria and Gaza. Obama's only perspective on Jerusalem derives from his Muslim background. And his J Street allies have nothing but contempt for Jews and Israel.

These comments are not coming from Jewish conservatives, but mainstream Jewish liberals. Still Obama's backing in the New York Jewish community was always weak, particularly among the communal leadership. In the end they supported him because he's a Democrat, but they never liked him or trusted him. Obama's backing in the Jewish world is closely associated with left wing politics, and there is still a huge gap between the Foxmans and Wiesels, who do have a Jewish identity, and the radical left that defines its moral compass by Code Pink and J Street. The latter want to pretend that they're the future, but they're not. They're the past.

Obama's mistake was in assuming that the radical leftists he associates with represent Jews. But confusing house slaves and hoffjuden with millions of people is a common mistake made by entitled politicians.

And top Jewish New York Democrats are trying to figure out the territory. They don't want to confront Obama, but neither do they want to risk a profound alienation of the Jewish community from the Democratic party. Senator Schumer claims to be working behind the scenes for a resolution. Meanwhile New York GOP Senate Candidate, David Malpass, blasted Patterson Senate appointee Kirsten Gillibrand for her silence on Israel.

As the Obama administration changes our position with Israel, to be less friendly with less toward Israel, where is she? She is not talking about it, not doing anything to stop it. She should be up in arms about that.”

Of course for Gilly to be up in arms about anything, she'd have to figure out what it is first. But the backlash is continuing.
Obama’s Pressure on Israel Spurs a Jewish Group for Sarah Palin

NEW YORK — President Obama’s recent demarche designed to increase pressure on Israel is having one immediate impact in the Jewish community — it is hastening the formation of an organization called Jewish Americans for Sarah Palin.

Plans for the new group are set to be announced on Sunday by a Philadelphia-based journalist and activist named Binyamin Korn, a former executive director of the Zionist Organization of America. The announcement is unlikely to make big news, as the group is embryonic, with an advisory committee of several journalists and academics.

But that's not to say that Obama doesn't have his supporters. Like Muammar Gaddafi.

"We have confidence in our son Baraka ("chance" in Arabic) Obama and, if he continues his wise and peaceful policies, we will help and support him so that they succeed," Gaddafi, dressed in white suit and black shirt, told the crowd of around 1 000 people.

Now finally we know who Barry's real father is.

Doug Ross at Director Blue also has an analysis on how Barack Hussein Obama's view of Israel appears to parallel that of... Ahmadinejad.

But what I think is that this constant wound, that this constant sore, does infect all of our foreign policy.

The world powers established this filthy bacteria, the Zionist regime, which is lashing out at the nations in the region like a wild beast

Against the infection of materialism, against the Jewish pestilence we must hold aloft a flaming ideal.

Guess which of these quotes comes from Ahmadinejad, Hitler or Obama. Answer at the link above.

Meanwhile over to Glenn Beck, who seems to be going the way of Lou Dobbs. Dobbs if you recall was the original Beck, and now supports amnesty and illegal immigrants.

The illegal immigrant is the only rational actor in this whole thing," ... "Have I not said I've got great respect for the work ethic, the family values of most illegal aliens working in this country? Have I not said that their wages should be increased?"

A number of people took notice of Glenn Beck's bashing of Geert Wilders recently. Now Beck appears to be going even further, according to the following piece in RightWingNews from Cliff Kincaid

In a sharp turn to the left, Glenn Beck of Fox News featured Justin Logan of the Cato Institute on his Thursday night program. Logan had hailed Barack Obama as "a vocal advocate of direct diplomacy with America's adversaries," a stand that he claimed had been "well-received by the American people."

Logan wrote that while a nuclear Iran would pose problems, Israel and the U.S. could deal with such a regime. Logan said Obama's campaign statements opposing a nuclear Iran were designed to appease "the Israeli right and American neoconservatives."

...

Logan appeared on the show along with another Cato scholar, Chris Edwards, who said that we should "pull back the foreign troops" and drastically reduce the U.S. defense budget. This will produce "higher security" for the U.S., he claimed.

Sounding like an anti-war progressive, Edwards charged that sinister arms manufacturers were pushing funding for unneeded weapons.

Nobody mentioned that Obama had cancelled the F-22 Raptor, the most advanced air superiority fighter in the U.S. inventory, at a time when the Russians are developing their own version of a fifth generation fighter.

The Cato Institute favored the Obama policy of killing the F-22.

By featuring the views of Logan and other scholars from the Cato Institute, Beck has become one of the "progressives" he frequently criticizes on the air.

...

Beck spent the early part of his Thursday program complaining about the size of the U.S. defense budget and even the new U.S. embassy in Iraq. "This is what we went into Iraq for?" he asked. He also said he was close to adopting the Ron Paul view of foreign policy, which holds that the U.S. is the cause of most of the region's troubles and should therefore pull back to its shores.

Ron Paul and his son, Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul, have suggested that U.S. intervention in the Middle East was the cause of the Muslim attacks on America on 9/11.

"I don't want a global force," Beck said of the U.S. military, adding that he has "changed" his foreign policy views and is now "on the road to Ron Paul," an isolationist in foreign policy. He said he wants the U.S. to "come home" and wrote on his famous blackboard that the U.S. should withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan.

However, Beck paused when considering that an American withdrawal from the rest of the world, of the kind argued by Cato, would lead to the isolation and destruction of the state of Israel, a major U.S. ally. Beck also seemed to pause when Logan insisted that the religious zealots running Iran would not risk a nuclear attack on the Jewish state. Beck shook his head in disbelief.

I haven't seen the full video yet, but Beck seems ready to adopt the "Kick Me" sign approach of the Pauls to national defense. Ron and Rand Paul are of course ready to pull out US troops and give terrorists free reign, because they believe the real terrorists are the US military (whom they've compared to Hitler) and various hidden elites. Beck doesn't suffer from the bigotry that helps further inform Ron Paul's worldview, but slipping into an appeasement philosophy would be a serious mistake.

It may be tempting with Obama in office for some to begin disowning a strong national defense, but that is exactly what Obama is doing what Obama wants. Ron Paul is only unhappy that Obama isn't going far enough in pulling out now and letting the terrorists win, instead of waiting 18 months to do the same thing.

But unfortunately Rand Paul has picked up a certain degree of legitimacy by camouflaging his views. Too many conservatives are willing to overlook statements like this on captured Islamic terrorists
“I think they should mostly be sent back to their country of origin or to tell you the truth I’d drop them back off into battle … you’re unclear, drop ‘em off back into Afghanistan. It’d take them a while to get back over here.”

Or Rand Paul's flip flopping on abortion. And then there's the great "fiscal conservative hope" who's running on money from bailed out bankers. This isn't exactly surprising consider that his father inserts earmarks into bills and then makes a show of voting against them... when he knows they'll pass anyway. The hypocrisy doesn't fall far from the hypocrisy tree.

All this makes it unfortunate that Sarah Palin has donated another 2 grand to Rand Paul, which may make him the largest beneficiary of contributions from her, of any other candidate. (via Debbie Schlussel)

Meanwhile I'd like to introduce you to a thriller about the War on Terror and the threat of Islam, from Brooks William Kelley, titled "The Martyr's Prize".

For Kyle Simms and Jason Lanford, the discovery of a roadside-bomb tutorial will prove a seminal event, changing every aspect of their lives from that moment forward. Posted to an extremist website, the meticulous schematics hint at a new era—one in which the daily death and destruction previously confined to third-world hellholes is to be brought to the American heartland.

A mere touch of the sticky silk is all it takes, and the two find themselves drawn into a world so foreign, both literally and figuratively, that they are forced to reassess everything they previously understood about the history of Western Civilization and the global war on terror.

The Martyr’s Prize tells a tale of American exceptionalism, paying homage to the heroism and professionalism of our Special Forces and Counterterrorism communities while delivering a profound message—the alarming non-fiction groundwork, already in place and presented in the actual words of our enemies, for the future subjugation of the West. This plan, to bring about the elimination of all belief systems beyond their own, is at once spellbinding and horrifying in the face of its likely success.

At Pajamas Media, Phyllis Chesler has a piece on the ongoing peace disaster, The Palestinians Already Have Two States: The Truth According to Khaled Abu Toameh

And so, wryly, ironically, Abu Toameh concludes: “We got our two-state solution. The Palestinians got two states. Hamas is funded by the Muslim Brotherhood, Syria, and Iran and I would not want to live there. The West Bank is being run by Arafat’s former cronies. But Mahmoud Abbas is afraid of his own people. I have not once seen him in a village. He has no credibility. He cannot deliver peace.

“If Israel withdraws from the West Bank, Hamas will take over. The IDF is keeping Abbas from being hung. Israel is also keeping Fatah and Hamas from killing each other. They hate each other more than they hate Israel.”

In his view, “we cannot move forward with a peace process. There is no Palestinian partner…Did you know? Mahmoud Abbas’s office expired in 2009 but Secretary of State Rice told him to simply stay on. Look: Abbas has lost control of 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza. Abbas is also seen as corrupt and ineffective. To whom will Abbas sell his peace agreement? Hamas will hang him at the entrance to Gaza, they will not wait.”

What does Abu Toameh suggest is the way forward?

“Dismantle all the Palestinian militias, start building Palestinian infra-structures, solve the Palestinian-Palestinian problems—and only then, sit down with the Jews. Obama thinks the ball is in the Israeli court. That is not true.”

Dana Millbank at the Washington Post experiences his own entitled media version of a Tea Party moment blasting Obama for his segregation of the press
World leaders arriving in Washington for President Obama's Nuclear Security Summit must have felt for a moment that they had instead been transported to Soviet-era Moscow.

They entered a capital that had become a military encampment, with camo-wearing military police in Humvees and enough Army vehicles to make it look like a May Day parade on New York Avenue, where a bicyclist was killed Monday by a National Guard truck.

In the middle of it all was Obama -- occupant of an office once informally known as "leader of the free world" -- putting on a clinic for some of the world's greatest dictators in how to circumvent a free press.

Well it takes one to know one, doesn't it...

In more wonders of Islam news, a Muslim ban on playing music in Somalia leaves music stations with no choice but to play animal noises...

Roars, growls and galloping hooves replaced music Tuesday on some of Mogadishu's radio stations in a protest of a ban on music imposed by Islamic extremists.

Radio Shabelle, along with the stations Tusmo and Hornafrik, were responding to threats from Muslim militant groups that believe music is un-Islamic and want it prohibited.

Mogadishu's 14 private radio stations stopped playing music Tuesday after Hizbul al-Islam, an Islamic extremist group, issued a 10-day ultimatum. The threat was backed by the main militant group al-Shabaab, which has been linked to al Qaeda.

A statement from the National Union of Somali Journalists said several stations received calls, warning them that there would be consequences if they failed to comply with the ban within 10 days.

A radio station director, who could not be identified because of safety concerns, said the stations were unhappy about the ban but were forced to comply "because of fear for our lives."

A Somali journalist, who also asked not to be identified, said there is widespread fear that this marks the beginning of a wider plot by extremists to silence independent media. He fears that female journalists may become the the next target.

  1. I like this article. Really, really informative. Especially concerning Ron and Rand Paul. I wanted to see him run and be elected at one time, but the more you find out about him, it isn't really good.
My boss, after I show this to him, won't like this, or me, LOL.

Thanks for the great article Sultan.

I had to laugh when reading about the Islamic ban on music in Somalia leaving them no choice but to play "animal noises". It's one of those times you don't know if you should laugh or cry.

Thanks for the book reccomendation. I'm reading another one that you suggested, 'Battleground'. It's very good.

If Obama is a Christian, as he claims to be, he must know all this from reading the Old Testament.

  4. Thanks for reading Christopher

Anonymous, next up no doubt Islamists will find a reason to ban animal noises. After all some of them could come from pigs.

DP, I rather suspect Barry is more familiar with the Koran

  5. I thought the Cato institute was a conservative/libertarian think tank. Did they flip to liberal or isolationist?

    Khadaffi Claims Parentage of Obama

And in fact Khaddafi is right! Obama is not really black but is mostly arab and caucasian.
So, if ever, we should say that Obama is the first arab president - and he's behaving accordingly.
