The coyotes are out of hand here in north Georgia. We often see three or four hanging out in our culdesac. But here we have full rights to shoot them, no limit. They are dangerous to small children and pets. Kinda basic self preservation.
The mother's statement and presumably her daughter's wish when alive are standard responses from the left which is now fully nihilist and collectivist in that individual human beings are of no value. According to the left, all humans are property of the state which may do with them as the latest whim of the head of state dictates. We witness this every day in places like NYC and California. The fact that if left in place, the coyotes might kill someone else, so what? It's not an individual of any value. It's another cipher or zero in that great mass of flesh, the state.
The cliche about some people used to be "they have no regard for human life." The left is fast making a virtue of disregard for human life in favor of the left's version of the common good. Other populations of wildlife are managed and culled --deer, elk, boars etc. There is no reason not to capture and move or cull coyote populations as well. They could also be captured and neutered to lower the population growth. Ranchers have a huge problem with coyotes. The coyotes don't kill cattle--they attack and eat their tongues and eyes. leaving the maimed calves and cows to die.

Hm. I think you make a lot of good points here, but the first example does not fit. That young woman went into coyote territory, and paid the price. I think the argument made by her family is valid. Wilderness is wild. You go there knowing the risks. Some people die. It does not call for "oh my god let's exterminate the coyote pack."
With the first example, what struck me most was... nobody in her vicinity helped her. Coyotes are skittish. It probably would have saved her life. She was failed by her fellow humans.
We had/have a similar problem in a park where I live: aggressive coyotes and enabling officials. The people responsible for the park seem more concerned for the coyotes than the children, dogs and adults who use the paths. I started walking my dog armed, then abandoned the park after numerous attempts to get the problem humanely addressed failed. I do not know if the problem still exists, but it went on for years. Insanity.

But I soon realized their lives wouldn’t work in the real world. The problem is there is very little ‘God’ in America today. I’m not sure about John Lennon, but fast food, pizza & alcohol are definitely favored over God, the Golden Rule and the 10 Commandments. The true measure of a civilization is how it treats its women and children. No exceptions. Do they have freedom from fear, assault, abuse, and are they afforded great educational and physical activities in their day to day lives? We have neglected the most precious beings in our lives, and are paying the price for the wicked expansion of everything except God’s Holy Word. This too will change. As we migrate back to a more complete and morally strong country, the prevalence of God in our lives will be abundantly evident. And those that need the most protection will again be given relevance, reverence, and the undivided attention their growth to a healthy maturity requires.
