But it consists of more than senior bureaucrats in the government; it includes managers of large corporations and NGO's, heads of major unions, academic administrators, and key players in the news & entertainment media . These are not necessarily separate from each other, not only do they increasingly co-ordinate with each other but their top personnel seamlessly move between the different types of organizations. Mencius Moldberg termed this the "Cathedral"; I assume mostly because of the turn from self-aggrandizement to religious fanaticism amongst its members.SJBChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03730062017267927696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-32044134474219569142023-03-18T17:15:33.399-04:002023-03-18T17:15:33.399-04:00Politicians come and go but the bureaucracy (and t...Politicians come and go but the bureaucracy (and the bureaucrats) go on forever. Having served at the State Department via a political appointment I can tell you that the staff that had been in my office for an average of 15 years each ran the place as if I wasn't there. They continuously ignored direction, refused to modernize, and wouldn't do anything more than count their accumulated days off and how many more they had until retirement.
Term limits for staff would go further than limiting the politicians that they rule over.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-56616816116107328292023-03-17T17:57:20.970-04:002023-03-17T17:57:20.970-04:00Wow Daniel. What would happen if we finally stood up and said I’m not paying another dime in “taxes” to this “illegitimate government?” Doesn’t our Constitution give us that right? Do not we have the right to remove a governing body once it becomes infected with tyranny?

Or does our government even recognise our founding principles laid out in the Constitution? I suspect that’s merely a “figurehead” at this point as well. I think we are in a lot more trouble as a country than we even realize. Much like our “representatives” are “figureheads,” so is the illusion we get the government we vote for. Elections and voting are merely carnival shows, to give the citizenry the appearance they are “participating” in the election process. I no longer believe it.

What we have become is Bolshevik regime, masquerading as a Constitutional Republic. All 100 senators and 435 representatives are merely figureheads. They get to go before the cameras and take the expensive junkets under the illusion of “representation.” When their time is up, they get to ride off into the sunset with a government pension. Being elected to congress is like hitting the lottery. The reality is our government is being ran by “staffers,” with the uniparty fully in charge. The “coup” was completed long ago.
