They say politician as though its a swear word or racial slur. There's definitely a sense of betrayl implied, too.

Nobody should be allowed to be a councilman for more than two years (here it was changed to four). A person can start out wanting to be a public servant but after four years and political wrangling and building up a war chest he/she becomes nothing more than a sleazy politician.

I went to vote in the primary last Tuesday. I had a choice between two Democratic candidates and in the voting station there were a bunch of signs:

"No Republican Primary Here"

"No Conservative Primary Here"

"No Working Families Primary Here."

Only two people were running for mayor (both Democratcs). The incumbant has millions but is the subject of an FBI probe for corruption.

His opponent is only had about $16,000 in his campaign.

No Republican party candidate running for mayor.

Byron Brown the incumbant under investigation won. He's running unopposed in Nov. In a recent article about the corruption scandal he said, "It's a non-issue. The voters have spoken."

Politics and corruption in Buffalo as usual. Even the Republican party decided to queer the election by not running a candidate. Dirty politics run by career politicians.

We need term limits and campaign finance reforms in the worst way!Keli Atahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05089132216830000713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-41194353849098970922009-09-21T04:08:41.369-04:002009-09-21T04:08:41.369-04:00Politics turns ordinary men and women who might in...Politics turns ordinary men and women who might initially want to serve the public into celebrities of sorts--they're in the media, have lots of money and the ability to influence lives. That fame and power is very seductive.

I believe the shift from master to slave gained speed during FDR's presidency. Just look at his Farm Security Administration. It was, in theory and hype, supposed to assist poor, rural farmers. Little catch though. Apparently FDR wanted the farmers to work on government farms and the goal was to decrease production and increase prices.

Seems like a pathetic attempt at economic stimulus at the expense of the poor. Most of the poor wanted ownership and ultimately moved to the city.

When you think about the FSA photography program it all seems incredibly cruel and exploitive if not down right arrogant.

Side note--I heard on a documentary recently that at one point FDR was afraid that the economy would improve before he could institute all of his New Deal programs! That would imply that his goals were not all that altruistic at all.

He wanted to control the poor and keep them in debt.Keli Atahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05089132216830000713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-68881550497297365672009-09-21T01:06:42.211-04:002009-09-21T01:06:42.211-04:00Career politicians are a very bad thing for any na...Career politicians are a very bad thing for any nation.
It's just a job to them after a while. A job with far too many perks and priviledges.
We need citizens in government with strict terms limits.Chana @ Lemon Lime Moonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11656854855385193867noreply@blogger.com
