I said that Oren had read D'Souza's book....what I meant to say is that he read the book by Obama ("Dreams FROM My Father") that had been the subject of D'Souza's book. Oren said he saw in Obama's book no love for the US, just massive criticism and a nostalgic view of the supposedly Edenic pre-colonial Africa of his ancestors.Y. He believes the US and other European powers are arrogant imperialist colonialists and he wants to see their power knocked down, and he wants to see the Islamic world and other traditional anti-American powers like Russia strengthened. The excerpts I have read from Michael Oren's new book seem to confirm this view (he read D'Souza's book and reached the same conclusin....Obama does not like the US and does not identify with it).
Thus, the view that "he doesn't know what he is doing" is based on an assumption that he views the US and its interests like his predecessors, BUT HE DOESN"T.Y. In Syria, the...You bring out very important points. In Syria, there is a quiet alliance between ISIS and Assad's Iranian supported regime. ISIS generally does not fight Assad's forces, although there apparently was a conflict when ISIS took control of Tadmor/Palmyra which was said to be controlled by Assad's regime. ISIS spends most of its efforts fighting the other Syrian rebel groups. Even though ISIS is virulently anti-Shi'ite and anti-Alawite, Iran and Assad view it as advantageous for ISIS to be seen to be powerful because it creates conflict within the Sunni camp. Sunnis are the large majority of Muslims but they are badly divided and the Shi'ites (Iran and Assad's regime) are hoping they will beat up on each other and then the Shi'ites will pick up the pieces. Assad is also trying to sell the West on the idea that he is preferable to ISIS so he wants them around to scare the West.

Obama clearly is enchanted with Shia Islam. Obama himself doesn't appear to be interested in religion, his Muslim identity is basically a secular one and he wants to see the Muslim world in ascendancy while he works hard to bring down the "colonialist, imperialist" West as he sees it. Thus, his budding alliance with Iran and his desire to see them with nuclear weapons.
I am firmly convinced after he leaves office he will formally announce his adoption of Islam (he doesn't need to convert since according to Sharia law he was born a Muslim by way of his father) and I believe it will be Shi'ite Islam that he will show a preference for, based on their seemingly better political organization, as exemplified by the Iranian regime.Y.
