The destruction of the family in the West, and therefore reduced number of productive workers, is happening at a time when the West is importing vast numbers of people who may be physically incapable of assimilating into Western societies. Yet, these same immigrants are wanting social resources, which are being paid for by a declining share of the population. Even a 100% tax rate on workers will eventually be insufficient to feed the number of people dependent on the workers. I can see it won't end well, but I can't see how things evolve from the present situation to that end. Perhaps it's better that way.
Agent JAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-3508062601107009192014-06-01T14:01:27.204-04:002014-06-01T14:01:27.204-04:00Elaine, hedonism is a compelling bribe, but the bi...Elaine, hedonism is a compelling bribe, but the bill always comes due.Daniel Greenfieldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13575285186581875356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-43447891385150666612014-06-01T14:00:43.726-04:002014-06-01T14:00:43.726-04:00The "rich" who are benefiting from wealt...The "rich" who are benefiting from wealth transfer to the middle class are in the government or dealing with it. This is partly the result of affluence - people who have material and cultural opportunities don't want to give them up - but also partly the result of declining affluence of the middle class. And when it comes to the later, conservative, not liberal, policies are at fault.

There was once a time when a middle class lifestyle for a family could be supported on one primary salary, and that person worked 9-5 weekdays. Now it can barely be supported on two salaries where people are expected to put in 60+ hours a week. This change is because of economic policies that have transferred wealth and prosperity upward. These policies range from outsourcing to shifting the tax burden off the wealthy and onto the middle class, to the transition from rewarding work to rewarding investing. All of these changes were inspired and supported by conservatives.

Want middle class people in the west to have more kids? Then stop supporting policies that transfer wealth out of the middle class and to the rich.fizzikshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12946516712656954193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-65042919291596042392014-06-01T12:49:50.547-04:002014-06-01T12:49:50.547-04:00Oh but Daniel, the new way forward is to manufactu...Oh but Daniel, the new way forward is to manufacture children. This manufacturing process has been in existence for a long time. IVT and sperm banks will be the way the dwindling human species is kept afloat. Once women began using birth control, they became the determiners of life and death, giving them powers they could only dream of. That was the beginning of the end of the family. Who needs to make a commitment to another when there may be someone more interesting, more lovable, or who suits the current desires/whims of a woman just one day away? With the use of birth control, she is free to use her body as she sees fit and does not have to worry about an unwanted child who can simply be disposed of. Men and women have no need to bind themselves to each other when there is no financial, personal, social or government incentive for them to do so since children are not gifts from God but like commodities, to be either conceived or manufactured if wanted, disposed of if conceived and unwanted. The traditional family of man, woman, and their biological children are a hindrance to the modern world which finds nothing in the past (recent or long-term) worth saving. Progress demands change. Change in everything. How are homosexuals going to form families if the common understanding of family remains what it has been for centuries? It isn't simply the state replacing the family but the people themselves who are the state who are willingly leading themselves to collapse.

ElaineAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-89099771526215114042014-06-01T12:26:14.720-04:002014-06-01T12:26:14.720-04:00I was in a office for a while that was populated b...I was in a office for a while that was populated by academics, people who could by in large become college professors if they wanted to. After a couple of months and getting to know some of the people personally, I noticed that among the population there were almost no children and few likely to be produced. That was around thirty years ago.

What surprises me now is how easily Western Civilization accepts its own demise, and how few people even notice. And often, how frequently people fail to care even when they figure it out. From strictly a selfish standpoint the problem is going to be retirement for the people who are currently adults. It is not the trust funds that are going to run out, or the planning, it is the society that has to remain stable and the same for the trust funds to actually fulfill their intended purpose. Both Abimelech and Pharoah had followers who thought that the family could be ripped apart and given to the ruling class for their use. Abimelech was better than Pharaoh in this regard but it did take some divine chastising to bring it out. Its not that we're killing the family but that the government feels it needs to channel the family into its needs. Public education, Obama etc are not options. They are mandated and in the end they will be judged on not how they work on the ground but how our new found rulers find them useful.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
