Unfortunately for Egypt and the civilized world, what you are saying is true. That is why I was against the revolution from day one.

However, I will have to disagree with your description of both the army and the Muslim Brotherhood as totalitarian forces. It is true that the Muslim Brotherhood is a totalitarian force. But the army is not a totalitarian force, even though it could rule under a dictatorial system. The army would be much more tolerable than the Muslim Brotherhood. In fact, a military-ruled Egypt would look a lot like Mubarak's Egypt. The army doesn't care much about what people do in their personal lives and will not punish you for having normal premarital sex, for example. On the other hand, an Islamic regime following the Islamic sharia law will most definitely will.Aymannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-65876477739267047342011-02-20T12:13:27.885-05:002011-02-20T12:13:27.885-05:00When I put up a video on Samir Kuntar, I got count...When I put up a video on Samir Kuntar, I got countless comments from Muslims which claimed that

1. Or maybe one of the 1.2 billion people who carry his name (Charles Manson is so jealous).

Let's follow the flawed logic of a muslim, for fun and game:
1. What's 'nearly' a gang - you're either in a gang, or not. If you say the protesters were a lawless bunch, then that is correct. The rest of the story doesn't even follow a coherent line.
2. So, she didn't get totally raped? What, would you like a Nobel peace prize for that? For a muslim mind, if one of them tried to commit a crime, but was somehow thwarted, he is innocent, and those who stopped him become the aggressors.
I'm not even bothering with the idiocy of a man that thinks a woman who wasn't completely defiled is somehow ok with it.
3. You've just wasted our time by talking about it. That's way worse. Our time can be used for something better than destroying property, making up conspiracy theories about Juice, and raping uncovered women.

Lara isn't here, but if you can't manage the numbers, then you don't deserve to manage a country. Wasn't the fact that it happened at ...Mohammed

Wasn't the fact that it happened at all an indication of the mentality which Sultan describes, even though you deplore it?

That they didn't manage to rape her is after a a sustained sexual assault lasting 20-30 minutes is not relevant.

It was the attitudes towards the West - and it seems, Jews - typified by assaults on western women that Sultan is writing about.

It's a matter of fact that Egyptian opposition to Mubarak was fueled by Jew-hatred. You only had to listen to vox pop interviews with protesters to hear their repeated complaints that Mubarak supported Israel and the US to know that. Their were not censored in any way although the mainstream media chose to ignore the comments, probably because most of them agree with the protesters.

The vicious persecution of Coptic Christians by their Muslim neighbours is also a matter of public record, rarely reported by the mainstream media but attested to by their representative and by Christian organisations who support them.

It was encouraging that some Egyptians came out in support of Christian minorities after persecution earlier this year. But that was only after decades of kidnaps and forced marriages of Christian women, destruction of Christian property, murders of Christian workers and all with the connivance of the Egyptian police.

I hope - with you, I'm sure - that Egypt passes into a phase of stable government where people desire to live at peace with their minority and Jewish neighbours.

But I have serious doubts that it will happen. Time will tell.Huldahnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-57578794865641913602011-02-19T21:42:12.331-05:002011-02-19T21:42:12.331-05:001st - i was in the square that day and the people ...1st - i was in the square that day and the people who did it was nearly a gang people witch came to celebrate too and they got beaten up after saving Lara by the protesters
2nd - Lara was not got totally raped they only tried to do it but could not
3rd - you made up all the rest of the article by your mind and am not going to waste my time talking about it

and finally sorry Lara for what happened , we just could not mange the numbersMohammednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-62847491688205024962011-02-18T18:42:38.362-05:002011-02-18T18:42:38.362-05:00Democracy in the Middle East. Historical comparisons are ...This is a good piece. Historical comparisons are never perfect, albeit they are often useful. You might have acknowledged there are differences between the Egyptian people and German people; between Wiemar Germany and Egypt. The later is today a parliamentary (democratic) Republic. Churchill wrote that Germans "constituted the most industrious, tractable, fierce and martial race in the world." How do we describe Egypt's Muslim-Arabs?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-32114978112176591772011-02-17T03:16:06.919-05:002011-02-17T03:16:06.919-05:00I agree with this article. Well said.

"Conspiracy theories are the best refuge of failed societies, and the panoply of conspiracy theories in the Muslim world have one common element, the theme of a vast Anti-Muslim conspiracy involving the CIA and the Mossad which prevents them from succeeding."

I know that it is in common use, but there is a lot to object in the terminology "conspiracy theory". Let us understand that when applied, the notion of a "conspiracy theory" is nothing at all like a theory. It is strictly refering to a "conspiracy fantasy", or maybe, a "conspiracy mass fantasy", something that is openly observable to be untrue, but lived, posing, as if it were true.

Remember again that history is full of real conspiracies. The assassination of Lincoln was a conspiracy. The Holocaust was a conspiracy. Institutionalized anti-semitism was easily observed in Nazi occupied Europe, but the systematic murder of Jews was a whispered secret.

If anyone imagines that there is, or has been, a conspiracy somewhere that is unrecorded by official history, then it is time to begin either research or investigation. Currently, there is investigation underway in which the athorities are trying to determine if there is enough evidence to prosecute Albanian suspects in a conspiracy to murder Serbian prisoners in former Yugoslavian conflict and harvest their organs for personal amusement and profit. For many this is a clearly established fact. But for many national and international officials, it is a conspiracy theory.Paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13265154565691102783noreply@blogger.com
