Perhaps this is an improper analogy but the current situation reminds me, in a certain way, of the novel "Flowers in the Attic." It's the story of four children locked away in an attic by a mother who is ultimately trying to kill them in order to inherent her father's very wealthy estate. But for the longest time the children do not even know they are being kept prisoners and don't recognize the truth and seek escape until one of them is killed very insiduously.

But months on end is like a game, an endless game of waiting and waiting, still struggling to believe their mother who has become increasingly distant physically and emotionally loves them. They're forced to suffer under their cruel grandmother. Why has the mother left them in the hands of such a cruel person, they ask.

When I think of Israel's children locked underground in bomb shelter while people like Olmert and his ilk talk of cease-fires, peace agreements by governement leaders who claim they are acting in their best interests...that novel comes to mind.

All the while Israeli children are locked away playing endless games underground when they should be out in the sun playing, carefree, not risking death.Keli Atahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05089132216830000713noreply@blogger.com
