The Jewish Problem

The Jewish problem has always been around. When Jews lived in their homeland, Assyrians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Crusaders, and then Arabs again, swept through Israel with the sword and the torch. Over and over again, the Jewish population of Israel was murdered and enslaved, the land was emptied and renamed, new populations were imported to take their place. Then the subjugating empire would fall, the Jews would return, reclaim their holy places, build new homes, plant vineyards and cultivate fields. And the cycle would begin again.

In exile, the Jewish problem did not go away. Islamic Arab rulers barred the Jews from even approaching the site of the Temple. Medieval Europe penned Jews into Ghettos. Czarist Russia had the Pale of Settlement. The liberals of the French Revolution proclaimed that the Jews were to assimilate and cease to be a separate people. As the counterrevolution, Nazi Germany began with plans to expel the Jews and ended with wholesale genocide. Jews fleeing the Nazis found the gates to Western nations barred on the ground that they all had enough Jews already, and to Israel, on the grounds that the British authorities did not want to upset the Arabs, who were already sympathetic to Nazism.

The year now is 5769 or 2009. And the Jewish problem still persists today, because for those who see the existence of Jews as the problem there will always be a Jewish problem.

Barely was the modern State of Israel rebuilt, that the world decided that the Jewish refugees of Nazism were the oppressors, and the Palestinian Arabs under Mufti Mohammad Amin al-Husayni who worked with Hitler on the Holocaust, were their victims.

This would become the conventional narrative of the latest phase of the "Jewish Problem". The Jewish problem being of course that there are Jews. The greatest threat to peace in the Middle East today, the world declares, is that there are Jews living in towns in Judea and Samaria. These towns are called "settlements" and they "prejudice the outcome" of the peace process, in a way that apparently all the Arabs towns and villages in parts of Israel do not.

If an Arab builds a house, his rights to do so are defended. If a Jew builds a house, he's a threat to peace. Never mind that there is no peace and no peace process, for the simple reason that the Hamas and Fatah terrorists that the world wants to hand a state to, keep trying to kill Jews.

To a diplomat however that only demonstrates that this is a Jewish problem. After all the terrorists are trying to kill Jews. Clearly the Jews are the problem.

The Obama Administration's two big overseas agendas are to keep Jews from living where he doesn't want them to in their own country, and to keep Israel from defending itself against Iranian nuclear attack. As usual it is not the Islamic Arab terrorists trying to kill Jews nor Iran's nuclear weapons program that is the problem-- it is the attempts by Jews to not be killed by them that is the threat to peace.

And of course there are always Court Jews who rush to their aid, not the aid of the Jews, but the aid of those who keep plugging away at the Jewish problem. Alan Dershowitz repurposed a suggestion from Yousef Munayyer, of the pro-Hamas American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee that Jews in settlements be forced to build only vertically, up instead of out. "Let them vertically" or piled one on top of the other, in a truly postmodern architectural vision of a ghetto as skyscraper.

100 story glass and steel ghettos are not likely to solve the Jewish problem. They only make for a better target. The problem is not the settlements, because it is not a settlement problem, but a Jewish problem.

Hitler's problem was not that there were Jews living in Germany, but that there were Jews living, period. When the Jews left Germany, Hitler's armies followed them to the West and to the East. Even to the Middle East, as Hitler vowed to the Mufti of Jerusalem, that his goal in the region would be to wipe out the Jews in Israel. Islam's problem is not that there are Jews living in parts of Judea and Samaria. Neither Hamas nor Fatah are prepared to recognize the rights of Jews living in any part of Israel, or the right of Israel to exist. Not even with the settlements gone.

The Jewish problem cannot be solved by moving Jews to ghettos, vertical or horizontal. Because it is not a problem caused by where Jews live, but by living Jews. Fatah and Hamas, and their ancestor the Mufti, have worked hard to solve the problem of living Jews. Obama is helping them solve that problem by once again viewing it as a "Jewish problem", rather than the problem of those who hate Jews too much to live and let live.

Diplomacy has tried to replace "the cycle of violence", with "the cycle of appeasement", but one naturally enough feeds the other. Israel has spent a generation since the Yom Kippur War trying to appease its enemies, only to learn that not even turning over land several times its own size, is appeasement enough. Jews in the West have worked hard to appease every minority with a grudge against them, and have still failed to learn that no amount of appeasement is ever enough.

A century of rhetoric, philosophy, debate and angst boils down to one simple fact. There is no way to solve a problem if you fail to define it. The Jewish problem is a problem not of Jews, but of those who want to kill Jews. There is no solution to the problem except to prevent them from accomplishing that task.

While some plan skyscraper ghettos and are convinced that the solution is some tough love from Obama to stop Jews from being such a problem-- the simple answer is that there is no answer, but that we go on living. Life is not such a complex equation, it can be understood in simple enough terms. When people consider you a problem, preventing them from doing whatever they can to "solve that problem" is your solution.

    Obama, our first foreign president, is concerned only with the friendship of 3rd world dictators and with upholding and preserving tyranical regimes in nations like russia,etc.
    He will help to set up yet another Arab take over of middle eastern land in an effort to give them all the help they need to destroy Israel.
    How many nations do arabs need anyway that they have to steal from Jews.

  2. So true. The solution to the problem is easy to recognize.

    Why so many Jews and others are snowed into believing the lies of the arabs I don't understand at all. Fear of fighting? Hope that a fight can be averted through peaceful measures with those intent on destroying you?

    I wonder if the Nazis tried to snow Jews into believing their lies just as their modern day counterparts are.

  3. of course they did

    beginning with, just come along peacefully and you won't be harmed

    Spot on.

    Lately I've started enjoying a certain daydream whereby we Jews get the chance to move to another planet entirely.

    No doubt, though, that would be seen as 'proof' of ' jewish expansionist policy' and 'aggression' by earth...! One can envisage the media headlines: 'Global Zionism Set To Colonise Entire Galaxy'...!

    Re Dershowitz; presumably he's experiencing severe cognitive dissonance at present. His attempts at supporting/defending Obama's policies on 'settlements' are painful to read.

    Great post Sultan! Keep up the great work!!
    Since the rebirth of the Jewish State and the rearming of the Jewish People it has become more difficult for the Jew killers to solve the Jewish problem. Our only hope is that there are not as many post-Zionist Jews in Israel as there are here in the "goldena medina."

  6. A Jewish friend recently suggested that given Arab hostility toward Israel, the Jews should consider "relocating" to another, more secure home, e.g., New York City! I responded with the following email:

    Though one of the articles you linked is correct that some of the early Zionists were so desperate in their search for a homeland they had considered places other than Eretz Israel, history tells us that whether the Jewish homeland is located in the Middle East or Uganda or the Upper West Side is of little consequence to the fate of the Jews. Forced conversions in Spain, pogroms in Russia, and shootings at the Holocaust Museum in the good ole USA demonstrate that antisemitism has been alive and kicking for 2,000 years EVERYWHERE. By Mendelssohn's time, the Jews of Germany had embraced reformation and were well-assimilated into German society (just as American Jews are today). That didn't save them. In the 1930s, the antisemites in Europe exhorted the Jews to go to Palestine; now they tell the Jews to get out of Palestine. Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah reminds that, "if the Jews all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide".

    In short, though the truth is unsettling, the issue is not one of geography; it's one of DNA. If the Jew of the world (Israel) were to disappear tomorrow, those in Diaspora would still be targeted -- probably more so. That's the tough reality you and I and all Jews have to live with. Fantasizing about "relocating" Israel in the hope of avoiding another Holocaust or efforts to appease the Arabs or Iranians with the calculus that the crocodile will eat you last will not ultimately solve the problem. The problem is metaphysical and doesn't yield to the usual approaches.

    ...And those who believed this particular lie were called coward and subservient, then used as an example of another Nazi stereotype -- them worm Joos.
    The Jewish problem always feeds itself.

    Indeed and if he's sunk to the point of using suggestions from Hamas supporters, he has really compromised his beliefs.

  9. Morry,

    Thanks. There are too many of them in Israel, but the birth rate isn't on their side.

  10. FinanceDoc,

    The problem is one of independence. As long as Jews are psychologically dependent on others for their safety, they will be stuck with a Galut mentality. Moving to Israel alone did not solve this, because a second generation retreated back to dependency.

    There will always be those who want to kill Jews. The real question is whether Jews will stand up to them or collaborate with them.

  11. Indeed Marcia, the collaborators fulfill the anti-semites' worst stereotype

    Sultan, the Jewish problem is the ultimate perversity, since it bears no relation to its object of hate, the Jews.

  14. ust watched a video on You Tube based on R. Kahane's Open Letter to the World.

    The truth is right in our faces--no matter where Jews live--diaspora or EY--the rest of the world is hell bent on genocide. The only rationale option is to remain in EY, tell the rest of the world to go to hell, and fight for Israel.

    (I reposted the video on my blog).

    The left has hollowed the words peace (Oslo and ...), peace activists (Al Sharpton), marriage (same sex), nation building president (Abbas) to a nothing. Doesn't it all smack of 1984? It's uncanny how clever Orwell was.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sultan you have stated the Jewish problem as well as many other excellent writers have.

    Everytime I read such analyses, I am reminded of the dark bitter humour in the story about the teacher that asked her class to write an essay on the elephant and received one essay entitled, The Elephant and the Jewish Problem.

    I noted your concluding remarks that are bound up in the following passage:

    "There is no way to solve a problem if you fail to define it. The Jewish problem is a problem not of Jews, but of those who want to kill Jews. There is no solution to the problem except to prevent them from accomplishing that task."

    That sentiment calling out for such solution far too often has been expressed by some vague general statement, such as yours.

    Only rarely have writers gone further to provide a game plan to open Jewish eyes to the pressing need for them to put differences aside and inspire them to stand together to ensure their own survival in order that the Jewish solution to the Jewish problem stands the best chance of success.

    What I do hope is that you will write on the subject of devising a feasible and precise solution to the Jewish problem, how to get the majority of Jews united behind that solution and inspired enough to come together to implement that solution.

  17. Nimrod Obama needs to keep his nose out of other nations and clean up his own mess. In just a couple of months he has almost bankrupted the United States and made deals with every despot and filth bucket who even seems Marxist.
    The guy is a walking nightmare.

  18. Bill,

    It's not about convincing the majority. It's about insuring that those who do understand have the power and the voice to make the important decisions.

  19. The solution is well understood at each given moment.

    Today it is simply to nuke the Iranian nuclear sites by a simultaneous overwhelming preventative strike.

    In general, it is a ring of fire around Israel, to keep the attacking Arab forces from getting anywhere close to Israel. Declare it as a policy and implement it at the slightest provocative move by obliterating Damascus, for starters.

    This leaves open the Mecca and Qom as retaliatory targets; and of course the Nes-Tsiona option to dealing with pests like Russia and the EU.

    But it needs to be explicit and openly stated, to work.

    Politically, recast the conflict back as it truly is, the Arab/Israeli conflict. The world has to accept the present borders as is, based on the WWII precedent, and declare PEACE TODAY. Removing all the terrorist organizations of course, imported into Israel controlled territory since 1992 under false pretenses, implementing the municipal autonomy for Arab communities, as originally envisioned.

    Anyone actively hostile to Israel's security should be relocated back to the Arab territory, again according to the well-established precedent of post WWII Germany.

    NO TOLERANCE for the INTOLERANT!

    Islam resent crime history against humanity
    Armenian Genocide, 1915–1917: over 500,000 Armenians, including children, died.
    In 1920s-30s, Palestinian Muslims committed massacre of Jews in Jewish land of Palestine murdering thousands of children and civilians. The murder was organized by the founder and supreme leader of the Arab Higher Committee, Haj Amin al Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem, and supported by British Administration of Palestine. The massacre was, in reality, the Holocaust committed by Palestinian Arabs in compliance with Islamic Koran which demand killing Christians and Jews.
    Haj Amin was close friend of Hitler. In 1941, Haj Amin came to Berlin and visited Hitler. He brought the Holocaust idea to Hitler. In 1943, Amin organized Bosnian Muslim battalions in Croatia comprising some twenty thousand men. The battalions were put in Waffen-SS units, fought Yugoslav partisans in Bosnia; thousands of Serbs, Roma ('Gypsies') and Jews hunted down by Haj Amin's SS troops were killed by those same troops, or they were sent to the Islamic death camp Jasenovac. After the WWII, the International tribunal declared Haj Amin was crime criminal; however, he escaped prosecution, fled to Egypt and then Palestine where he organized Fatah. After his death in 1974, Arafat, who was Haj Amin lieutenant, became Fatah commander. He organized PLO. PLO and Fatah committed numerous murders around the world killing American and European Christian and Jews.
    From 1948 to 1953, Arab countries expelled almost million Jews and stall their properties. Laws of some Islamic countries ban Christians and Jews from living there, in compliance with Koran. In 1999, Kosovo Liberation Army stormed homes of the last 15 Jews in Kosovo’s capitol, who had to clear out, with just the clothes on their backs
    The assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, a United States Senator and brother of assassinated President John F. Kennedy, took place shortly after midnight on June 5, 1968. He was killed following celebrations of his successful campaign in the Californian primary elections while seeking the Democratic nomination for President of the United States. The perpetrator was a twenty-four year old Palestinian immigrant Sirhan Sirhan.
    In 1985, the Achille Lauro cruise ship was hijacked. During the hijacking, an elderly, wheelchair-bound American from New York, Leon Klinghoffer, was shot and pushed overboard. The hijacking was organized by the militant Palestinian Liberation Front in part to demand the freedom of Samir Kuntar, the convicted gunman. (Unclear, why US has never demanded his extradition to US for trail)
    There are more:
    Iran Embassy Hostages, 1979;
    Beirut, Lebanon Embassy 1983;
    Beirut, Lebanon Marine Barracks 1983;
    Lockerbie, Scotland Pan-Am flight to New York 1988;
    First New York World Trade Center attack 1993;
    Dhahran, Saudi Arabia Khobar Towers Military complex 1996;
    Nairobi, Kenya US Embassy 1998;
    Dares Salaam, Tanzania US Embassy 1998;
    Aden, Yemen USS Cole 2000;
    New York World Trade Center 2001;
    Pentagon 2001; and
    Current piracy
    (Note: during the period from 1981 to 2001 there were 7,581 terrorist attacks worldwide.)
    The above is only a minuscule part of islam criminal and murderous history; however, it is more than enough to conclude that:
    1. Islam is Fascism and must be banned on American, European and Australian continents
    2. Koran is Islamic Mein Kampf
    The world literature knows only two books calling for total elimination of people based on their ethnicity or religion:
    1. Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler and
    2. Koran by Prophet Muhammad
    Mark Bernadiner, PH.D.

    My apologies for writing a comment almost 3 years late, but I first saw it through “You might also like”, and I had to comment.
    Writing with a hindsight of 3 years, it seems that the major problem is the disunion of the Jews, especially in EY. I think the leftists can mostly be rejected, since they are too devoted to their ideology, which doesn’t really have room for Jews. But the Haredei, the National Religious, and the Secular Religious are really devoted to the same ideal, although with different approaches. If they could manage to work together, we might really accomplish a defence of our people. We realize that ultimately everything depends on Hashem, but it is also clear that we must also do what we can in a secular manner, without relying on supernatural intervention. Somehow we must unite and fight the enemy, rather than fighting each other.
