So-called renewables are dangerously unreliable because they shift with the natural cycles of wind, sunshine, and tide. The same phenomenon leading to power outages in California has brought China, which has a much bigger population and industry, to its knees.

Going green in China is less likely to mean wind and solar than hydroelectric. That’s a wise decision because hydroelectric power is more reliable and efficient than wind and solar, but as a water empire, the Communist regime should have reckoned with China’s history of droughts.

China’s green strategy depended on hydropower and the droughts have left it powerless. And its hydropower is anything but environmentally friendly. Mao used dams to revive the water empire strategy of the ancient emperors allowing the Communist regime to starve entire regions of the country and to undermine neighbors like India. The massive number of dams in China, a totalitarian program to enable mass murder, were environmentally devastating before being revamped as “green energy” hydropower. Green energy, as usual, has its roots in genocide.

But the vast majority of China’s hydropower plants are so useless that the regime has been shutting down tens of thousands of them. The environmental damage from Mao’s dam program destroyed enough bodies of water that there’s no more hydropower to be gained from them.

That is the real face of China’s “green energy”: a genocidal environmentalist boondoggle.

Like their Soviet Communist counterparts who reported 96% successful wheat harvests even while the peasants starved, Chinese Communist officials were pressured to fake numbers for the hydropower projects to prop up Xi’s international green energy commitments. As the droughts devastated hydropower capacity, Communist officials responded with drastic power cuts that are harming Chinese industry, its exports, and even killing people with rationing.

As the hot summer surged, China desperately began searching for coal overseas to prepare for the coming winter. The Communist regime scrambled to conduct industrial triage, banning bitcoin miners and cracking down on online gaming, officially for social welfare, but really as a desperate effort to reduce power usage in a country with a booming internet culture.

China, like California, is desperately rationing energy. Some places are only allocated a few days of power a week. Part of the supply chain disaster wreaking havoc on American consumers is actually originating at the source with some Chinese factories only being given power for a day or two leaving them unable to manufacture products or fulfill orders.

Even while Chinese propaganda touts new skyscrapers and bizarre bridges, its cities are going dark and the residents are buying candles. It’s not unusual for Chinese drivers to navigate evening roads with no lights and for Communist officials to urge people to open their windows instead of turning on air conditioners and to use “natural light” instead of electricity.

Worsening the green energy disaster is China’s Communist hostility to a market economy which made it impossible for utilities to use price signals and cope with the demands and shortages. China’s electric rates are capped leading to the same results as in South Africa’s socialist power grid in which the utilities would go bankrupt providing more power when coal is too expensive.

But China’s Communists, like Soviet Communists, can’t escape market economics. The power shortages are leading to price hikes for products, decreasing exports, and a lower growth rate. It’s also causing Xi’s regime to aggressively threaten Taiwan after consolidating control over Hong Kong as the Communist dictatorship tries to project strength and plots to seize the wealth of other nations, like Taiwan, to compensate for the domestic failures of the corrupt regime.

When Kerry, Biden’s climate czar, headed off to China to plead with the regime to cut back on its use of coal, the Communists humiliated Kerry and read off a list of demands, including an end to sanctions on its slave labor solar panels. Kerry dutifully returned once more from Asia spouting the Communist propaganda of his hosts and once again he was taken for a ride by his captors.

Xi couldn’t cut the use of coal even if the world were ending because it would end his regime.

China survived the counter-Communist revolutionists that toppled the USSR and its satellites because it was able to offer the benefits of consumerism, from smartphones to sodas, to a people who were a generation away from planned government famines. The Communists traded enough of their ideology to survive. They won’t doom themselves for environmentalism.

Xi’s crackdown on Chinese big industries, the threats to big internet companies, its entertainment industry, and its tycoons is not a show of strength, but a sign of weakness.

The Communist regime is anticipating trouble and is going to the mattresses, consolidating control over companies and the culture to be able to ride out a crisis that it expects will be much bigger than the pandemic. As Xi’s regime panics, green energy may end up on the kill list.

China’s dam obsession wrecked its rivers and as the past year has shown, it cannot expect to service the demands of a growing population and booming industry with the bodies of water that it has spent generations destroying. Green energy isn’t China’s future, but the past, and its emperors were far wiser stewards of its rivers than the Maoists and the Communist regime.

The Communist regime can fill Taiwan’s skies with warplanes and threaten India and Australia, hold Canadians hostage and browbeat American diplomats, but it’s powerless when its economic pyramid scheme fails to heat and light the homes of the Chinese people.

Red China tried to go green. A Sierra Club organizer pushing green energy warned that "warmer winters" would have a "disproportionate effect" on "low-income people of color."

Now, “low-income people of color” are dying of carbon monoxide poisoning because of a green energy grid with windmills that don’t turn, solar panels that don’t work under snow, and battery power which holds its charge in freezing temperatures about as well as your phone does.

Defying expectations and experts, Austin recorded its lowest temperature in 33 years and its deepest snowfall in 55 years. Warmer winters weren’t the future. The future was plowing through 6 inches of snow in a city that was expecting warmer, not colder weather.

The experts are back to crediting the snowstorm to ‘climate change’. Replacing God with Gaia means that every bit of weather is evidence of man’s sinful industrial nature. The Future of Extreme Weather in Austin, Texas" spread alarmism about the climate of tomorrow. Fear of global warming and expectations of a climate that was hotter and drier helped drive the adoption of green energy.

Solar panels and wind turbines seemed like a good idea for a state that was expected to look more like Arizona. And little effort was made to prepare wind turbines for coping with weather conditions that global warming experts had been telling Texans were a thing of the past.

“By the end of the century, there might be as few as four freezing nights a year in Austin,” was typical of the sort of media pablum that policymakers and many residents had come to absorb.

Why bother planning for snowstorms when the future is going to be warm and snowless?

The snowstorm that hit Austin wouldn’t get a second glance in much of the country. The fundamental shift ushered in by so-called renewables is a move away from ‘brown energy’ and power supplies based on resources that can be mined, to ‘green energy’ which depends on the weather: on sunshine, on wind, and on tides. Weather is a much less reliable basis for an energy grid than coal, gas, nuclear, or any resource fuel.

What happened in Texas isn’t extraordinary. It’s inevitable.

When weather is your energy source, then your power grid depends on the weather. Environmentalists insist that global warming will make the weather more erratic and then propose that the solution is to switch over to power sources that depend on the weather.

That an argument so counterintuitive and self-contradictory could have become the basis for a trillion-dollar industry subsidized by taxpayers is a testament to the madness of the elites.

The Texas storm laid bare the paradoxes of green energy in swaths of white over every road.

The artificial boom of green energy has become another of those bubbles that is too big to fail. The imaginary crisis of global warming requires more subsidies for solar panels and wind turbines. The net effect of injecting more of that ‘green energy’ into a power grid is to make it less reliable and more prone to failure. The experts try to compensate for that with more solar panels and more wind turbines, and more batteries, while extending the grid even wider, so that there are more failure points, less reliable energy, and higher prices for whatever power you get.

This isn’t an accident. It’s a calculated strategy for lowering power usage by raising prices. And meanwhile the experts, the consultants, and the donor class cash in on the green subsidies.

None of this can actually be said out loud.

David Ismay, a California lawyer who had been working as the undersecretary for climate change, was forced to resign after he was caught ranting, "60% of our emissions that need to be reduced come from you, the person on your street, the senior on fixed-income. And to see Global Warming while walking through a blizzard, is itself an act of faith.

Prior to this season's unfortunate weather, Global Warming advocates had staked their bets on a mild winter in order to show people the pernicious effects of people driving to work and using extra shopping bags. Which was a decent enough angle, considering that we had been experiencing milder winters over the last few years. But the problem with betting that the weather will help prove your point, is that the weather may have other plans. And now digging out of a snowstorm and their own lies, Global Warming advocates are arguing that colder winters and snowstorms are actually another effect of global warming. Which may now need to be renamed, Global Temperatures We Don't Like.

Had environmentalists hedged their bets by calling Global Warming something vaguely neutral like Global Temperature Imbalance, they would have had a much easier time covering their asses. Because temperature imbalances are a more subjective thing and the graphs are easier to fake. But Global Temperature Imbalance is much less entertainingly alarmist than Global Warming, and the environmentalists knew that they needed a name with some heft to frighten the public. Armageddon. Apocalypse. We think of destruction as a fiery event. And Global Warming was an environmentalist apocalypse, supposedly backed by science. No wonder it got as much traction as it did.

But it isn't just the weather that's turning on Global Warming, from Anglia to the IPCC, the scientific case for Global Warming is being undermined by revelations of fraud and malfeasance. And the political case for Cap and Trade is being undermined by the refusal of politicians and nations to cut their own throats so that Al Gore and George Soros can make a few billion selling "Right to Emit Carbon" certificates to every factory on the planet.

Walking through Central Park, it's easy to see how perverse the modern day Environmentalist has become in his view of the relationship between man and nature. Central Park was inspired by one of the co-founders of the Republican party, newspaper editor, William Cullen Bryant, and co-created by Republican architect and landscape designer Frederick Olmsted, to harmonize the natural world and the urban one through human industry.

The New York Republicans of the 19th century viewed public parks as part of their civilizing mission. Central Park was created as part of an ongoing battle with the corrupt Democratic Tammany Hall machine, which wanted segregated slums and downtrodden workers who would rush to them as saviors and vote how they were told. By contrast Bryant and Olmsted saw parks as a way to improve human health, inspire public citizenship and build a strong republic.

While today's environmentalists are fixated on holding back human development in order to maintain wetlands, banning DDT to save the mosquito and campaigning against agriculture to reduce population growth-- the visionaries behind Central Park did not restrict human development for the sake of nature, instead they used human industry and the state of the art technology of the time to turn a decrepit site used for slaughterhouse refuse, swamps and shantytowns into a magnificent park that seems effortlessly natural.

The difference is in the emphasis. Environmentalists demonize most human industry and accomplishment, except the ineffective and efficient kind, as evil, because they are wedded to a black and white view of humanity and the environment as opposites. In their worldview, for the environment to prosper, humanity must go into decline. And when humanity prospers, they insist that the environment is in decline.

By contrast, Conservationists, who included the likes of President Theodore Roosevelt, valued the natural world for what human beings can learn about themselves from engaging with it. That was the philosophy behind Central Park, which to this day remains an elegant demonstration of human accomplishment as applied to the natural world.

Global Warming is an ideological weapon by the environmentalists against human industry and civilization. It is part of a broader anti-civilization agenda by the left, which values the natural world only because it sees it as a "primitive" antidote to the complexities of civilization. That romanticism goes back many centuries. It is the borrowed hostility of the nomad to the farmer (and it is very telling to look at Europe and see its intellectuals championing the virtues of the grandsons of Bedouin nomads over the grandsons of French and English farmers) taken up by bored intellectuals, arguing against the complexity of civilization and for the noble barbarism of the savage.

Where the Conservationist values the natural world because of its beneficial impact on the human spirit through cultivation and achievement, the Environmentalist only thinks he values the natural world, in reality he does not love nature, he only hates civilization. Where the Conservationist sought out the natural world for its civilizing effects, the Environmentalist seeks it out for its decivilizing effects. He does not want to be a better human being, but less of one.

Accordingly to the Conservationist, we needed to integrate the natural world into our lives in order to build a better civilization. The Environmentalist is not interested in building a better human civilization. His objective can only truly succeed if every human being, every building, factory, car and artifact vanished off the face of the earth tomorrow. Because his environmentalism is really a mask for his hostility to human civilization.

Central Park does not duplicate Manhattan before the arrival of the settlers, a trendy bit of landscaping that environmentalists are rather fond of. But then who besides environmentalists would fancy the idea of reverting Manhattan to a swamp bordered island with poor water sources and high rates of disease. Instead it creates something better, improving on the natural world, cultivating land into a transcendent statement that is more about man than nature.

Where Global Warming insists that everything humans do just makes the world worse, Central Park is a shining statement that says we make it better. The ideology of Global Warming's only real message is, "Stop Doing Things We Don't Approve Of". Every ad is another parable about the evil of humans who clear cut forests, pour oil into the oceans and refuse to put things into clearly marked recycling containers. By contrast Central Park was meant to open up the natural world to human activities. The ideas of Olmsted about good citizenship and the natural world did not involve teaching people to leave the natural world alone, but to make it a part of our cities.

Environmentalists today sneer at this attitude, they view parks as patronizing to the environment and artificial human entities. They clamor against hunting and fishing. They agitate to restrict human access to national parks. They push Zero Population Growth and mandatory birth control. Their "Green", like that of the Islamic Green, burns with hate for the Red, White and Blue. For human civilization.

But as with so many left wing ideologies, the public may go along with the propaganda, until they begin realizing the real world implications. Much of the public thinks Environmentalism is a good idea, because they think it's ultimately meant to benefit them. And slowly they're realizing that this is not the case. That Environmentalism is an ideology that champions the Supremacy of Nature, better known as the ecosystem covering the surface of the Earth, over man. Where Conservationism believed in the Supremacy of Man, and the utilization of the natural environment for mankind's benefit, the environmentalist doesn't give a damn about mankind's benefit. Less so than he does about an endangered mollusk.

Walking through the blizzard, the trees wreathed in bridal veils of snow, I heard their voices in the distance, a distance that in the whiteness may have been only a dozen feet away. "The scientists say Global Warming is coming", the mother said. "It's too cold out for that," answered the little girl.

(note: photos in this article were taken by me and are under my copyright. In modern industrialized nations, such people have in any case become increasingly hard to find, let alone portray as the victims of greedy capitalists. It is not really about any human collective anymore, but a biological collective in which humans occupy a role within the biological kingdom, identical to the one that Americans identify within the global order, that of occupiers and exploiters.

For half a billion corporate dollars, the movie Avatar will be splashing that same worldview across a million movie screens, backed by the latest and most ingenious corporate technology, using aliens in place of animals. It is a worldview that began with Save the Whales and ends with Drown the Humans, but it is one that originates even more deeply in the collectivism of class warfare, in the notion that every modern society is innately corrupt and must be subject to a constant wave of reform revolutions meant to unseat the powerful and uplift the oppressed.

But that very notion of class struggle has been dying a prolonged and painful death, crushed by the reality that trickle down economics do work, and that capitalism writ large ultimately turns the poor into the middle class. And so to replace the vanishing domestic poor who had become the new middle class, the "new poor" in the form of Third World immigrants were imported and transported to fill the proletarian gap. And so Europe, Israel and America's left helped transform their countries into war zones, new class consciousness was raised up and once again the sons and daughters of the wealthy could get out their guitars and their Marxist textbooks, and damn the privilege and wealth of their forebears.

But once again the greatest enemy of class warfare has been productivity. Today the productive powers of capitalism have extended even to the worst off parts of Africa. From the billions that Bush had directed to Africa, to the Gates Foundation to One Laptop Per Child and to Microfinance, liberal capitalists were demonstrating paradoxically enough, that business profits could produce actual change, rather than simply treating the Third World as poster children for the perpetual evils of Western oppression.

Environmentalism, in its current embodiment as the Cult of Global Warming, has become the ultimate weapon of class warfare, except it is no longer class warfare, but species warfare. Say what you will about polar bears or penguins, but unlike every single human minority whose cause the left has tried to appropriate at one time or another-- they are not likely to pad in from the North Pole and demand a seat at the table. This has made animal rights and environmentalism the perfect pet cause for the post-human left.

Class warfare began as a dualistic view of society split between the haves and the have nots. Environmentalism perpetuates the same premise, except this time the haves are human beings, and the have nots, are the members of the animal kingdom. And that is the new face of the post-human left, the face of a dog, a polar bear, a rat-- a blue shining impersonal globe symbolizing a global collectivism no longer dependent on any political franchise or even humanity. Because the Post-Human Left is less interested in human beings than it is in mosquitoes and clams.

Of course the movers and shakers at Copenhagen have extended offers of financing to fight the pernicious effect of Carbon, one of the most common elements in the air, to African countries in order to bring them on board the Global Warming bandwagon. And too many African governments who have been trained to demand handouts from the First World have shown up on cue. Naturally they don't believe in Global Warming, but they do believe they're entitled to money for all that the West has wrought, and if shouting about the damage that Carbon has done to Africa is the way to get it, that's the way they'll go. Even more naturally the funding to fight Global Warming will go into the usual foreign bank accounts and the same places that much of the usual foreign aid that isn't human centered goes.

But then Copenhagen is the triumphant bleat of an inhuman world, a world in which humanity has no more meaning than a mollusk. Had the activists of the left thrown a fraction of the effort they have devoted to Global Warming into the genocide being carried out by the Sudanese regime in Darfur, countless numbers of people might have been saved. Instead the hypocritical jet setters of the left will get on their jets and into their limos, reserve entire hotel floors, gorge themselves on the finest delicacies imported from around the world at the expense of working class taxpayers-- all in order to spend trillions of dollars on schemes that will do nothing to fight an imaginary problem that even the dullest of them knows doesn't exist, but that will personally enrich them and their supporters.

The left has always used the ideology of Class Warfare as a lever to raise themselves up to power under the guise of a Dictatorship of the Proletariat, seizing on economic downturns and political outrage to raise up a tower of tyranny over the very people who put them into office. The EU, like the USSR, like the Obama Administration, like every international body gimmicked up to serve the interests of the same crowd, exists to merge the political and business interests of corporate socialists, with the hard left wing mobs outside that supply their ideological innovations for them.

Species Warfare has that advantage over Class Warfare, that it is fundamentally irresolvable, that success can never be measured or tracked, and that it completely destroys the self-worth of nations and individuals, teaching generations of children to see themselves as a pestilence not only against a variety of aborigines and less developed countries, but against every living thing one earth from the microbe to the trained seal.

If there is one message put forth by the Cult of Global Warming, it is essentially, A Plague on Humanity and All Its Works. And indeed if one were to take their ideology and every warmed over ancient myth presented as fact, then the inevitable conclusion is that the world would be better off if humanity had never existed. For all the clever cartoons, bright colors and adorable animals that are on the packaging-- this poisonous conclusion is the inevitable worm inside the box. Humanity is a plague. A toxic destroyer ravaging the environment. Its factories, its cows and even every breath of air that comes out of its mouth is killing the earth. Wouldn't it be better than if humanity didn't exist?

The ideology of Class Warfare successfully convinced generations of university students that they were at fault for being the sons and daughters of the wealthy and the middle class, convincing them to fight on behalf of the poor, only to find that most of the poor who weren't interested in living on the dole generally wanted to be wealthy and middle class themselves. Such a backward attitude naturally required that they be ruled by enlightened people like the aforementioned students in order to cure the poor of such selfish and greedy tendencies.

When the poor of the Free World got their wish and became middle class, in contrast to the poor of the Socialist Motherland of the Soviet Union, where everyone but the aforementioned students were poor, the ideology of Class Warfare became Global Class Warfare, and new generations of students were convinced that they were evil simply for being Americans, Canadians, Britons, Israelis, and other exploitative developed countries, who were taking advantage of the Third World. As it turned out though, like their own domestic poor, what the Third World nations wanted was to be First World nations. And while the First World nations have ravaged their own industrial economies, China and India are on the way to becoming First World nations instead.

And now Class Warfare and Global Class Warfare gives way to Species Warfare, and if turns out that all that the Polar Bears really want is to drive SUV's and own big screen TV's-- luckily they will never be able to make that known. And generations of students are taught to feel bad for simply being human, for having two arms and two legs, for having the intelligence to use a microwave oven instead of eating meat raw, and for enjoying all the comforts of civilization that have allowed them the luxury of bemoaning the fate of the animal kingdom in the first place.

And what of a people who are taught to be ashamed of working for a living, of being citizens of a prosperous country and of even being human?
