San Francisco became the epicenter of what the Wall Street Journal described as a “shoplifter’s paradise” with pharmacy chains and numberless small businesses disappearing from the city at a pace unmatched in the country.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut then the social justice looters went too far.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cdiv class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"\u003E\u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/img\/a\/AVvXsEim_0WgZ_CiMSLusWTve8KRyqvKIQgC4BSxb1pLNcySUsfei5SM0fT_gDKdYSrLpoLGwVmnC2d9bTOFaEbJCzbsWSfmpWnmUx3QAQEdRTOGF-mQPolTmAQ0LR5O-zHQ-bGMG-MbtHmbpCLAxB56w2AXgF92UpMXI4kiVCKiiRNL5vULAo9-Jts=s561\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"\u003E\u003Cimg border=\"0\" data-original-height=\"414\" data-original-width=\"561\" height=\"236\" src=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/img\/a\/AVvXsEim_0WgZ_CiMSLusWTve8KRyqvKIQgC4BSxb1pLNcySUsfei5SM0fT_gDKdYSrLpoLGwVmnC2d9bTOFaEbJCzbsWSfmpWnmUx3QAQEdRTOGF-mQPolTmAQ0LR5O-zHQ-bGMG-MbtHmbpCLAxB56w2AXgF92UpMXI4kiVCKiiRNL5vULAo9-Jts=s320\" width=\"320\" \/\u003E\u003C\/a\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\"Last night what we saw was horrible,\" Mayor London Breed declared. What she saw was gangs of thugs systematically looting Louis Vuitton, Bloomingdale's, and Burberry to protest the Rittenhouse verdict.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\"This is unacceptable,\" Chief Scott declared.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ESan Francisco DA Chesa Boudin, who had yet to find a criminal he wouldn't release, claimed to be outraged by the looting.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\"We are exploring every single possible criminal charge related to the conduct. We will use every tool in our tool belt,\" he blustered.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThose are harsh words from a progressive prosecutor who has been blamed for singlehandedly enabling the robbery craze in the city.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\"We're gonna be making some changes to Union Square and how cars are able to access. There will be limited access in terms of when you come to this area,\" Mayor Breed vowed.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhy was looting luxury retail stores “horrible” and “unacceptable” while looting local pharmacies wasn’t? The cops showed up at Union Square guns drawn, smashing car windows, and taking down the thieves even while shoplifters routinely haul garbage bags of stolen goods out of CVS.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWithout a police officer in sight.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ELouis Vuitton handbags go for upwards of $1,000 to over $15,000. That’s well above the $950 limit. Rob a corner bodega of its stock and you get a slap on the wrist, but steal a pricey purse and laws actually get enforced. That’s the two tier system of social justice in San Francisco that protects Breed’s handbags while leaving small businesses exposed with no protection.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe legalization of looting means that San Francisco’s progressive elites will have their luxury boutiques protected even as seniors can’t get medications because the pharmacies are closing.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIt’s not just San Francisco. In Chicago, Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/chicago.cbslocal.com\/2021\/10\/20\/michigan-avenue-magnificent-mile-crime\/\"\u003Eraised \u003C\/a\u003Ethe bar for felony retail theft to $1,000. The city's big bout of Black Lives Matter looting led to 392 arrests and \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcchicago.com\/news\/local\/one-year-after-chicago-looting-most-suspects-draw-probation-over-jail\/2507469\/\"\u003Eonly 7\u003C\/a\u003E prison sentences.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAn elderly Korean store owner had stood in the doorway, \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcchicago.com\/news\/local\/one-year-after-chicago-looting-most-suspects-draw-probation-over-jail\/2507469\/\"\u003Epleading\u003C\/a\u003E, \"Please, don't loot this store. I don't want to look -- my heart is broken.\"\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThere were no arrests and no consequences.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut when Magnificent Mile was looted, Mayor Lori Lightfoot warned, \"Let's be clear. We are coming for you. We are already at work finding you.\"\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWith progressive prosecutors like Foxx, such threats were rather hollow, but they came in sharp contrast to the daily toll of ordinary burglaries which occasioned no such political grandstanding.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EPro-crime supporters and criminal justice reformers claim that they’re putting people ahead of property, but as the response to the looting of Louis Vuitton shows, the French Laundry Democrat elite put their own property ahead of the property of ordinary taxpayers.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIt’s not that they’re incapable of being tough on crime or at least talking tough. Nor do they suffer from principles that leave them unable to be outraged at retail theft. They just differentiate between Korean grocery stores being robbed, and “horrible” and “unacceptable” robberies at luxury boutiques that turn even a pro-crime prosecutor like Chesa Boudin into Dirty Harry.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EStealing isn’t a problem. As long as you’re stealing from someone else.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“We will do what we need to do to put an end to this madness,” Police Chief Bill Scott warned.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe madness here was allowing California lefties to legalize shoplifting and then create a two-tier justice system in which crimes against ordinary people go unpunished.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe amount of a theft should factor into investigating and prosecuting a crime, but California’s criminal justice reform legalized stealing from poor people and criminalized stealing from the rich. That has been the overall effect of all criminal justice reform, from police defunding, which strips public safety from poor neighborhoods while its wealthy backers retreat behind gated communities, high walls, and private security, to setting loose criminals to return to their old minority neighborhoods where they shoot each other, and any women and children in between.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EMinorities and the poor, the very people whom lefties claim to want to help, are more likely to be victims of crime and suffer disproportionately from the decriminalization of crime.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EUnder the pretext of creating a fair justice system, the radicals have turned the formerly democratic public safety systems of major cities into a medieval class system in which only the wealthy reformers who legalize crime deserve to be protected against those same criminals.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe noblesse oblige that impels political elites to set criminals loose doesn’t extend so far as tolerating the rabble when they look beyond the Korean markets to their own establishments.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIn the name of progress, the Left has turned back the clock to the dark ages.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhile Big Tech bosses, like Facebook’s executives, call for criminal justice reform, they’re protected by 1,000 security officers in the Bay Area alone. The San Francisco Police Department has less than 2,000 police officers. Facebook’s force is \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/2021\/04\/facebook-has-private-army-its-founders-want-free-daniel-greenfield\/\"\u003Ehalf the size of the SFPD\u003C\/a\u003E.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd the social media monopoly even funded its own private police station.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/2021\/04\/facebook-has-private-army-its-founders-want-free-daniel-greenfield\/\"\u003EFacebook's private army\u003C\/a\u003E, whose Chief Security Officer is a former CIA agent, which uses one of Biden's former Secret Service agents to protect CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and which maintains a watchlist tracking anyone who criticises him, is why elites can promote police defunding.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIt’s not their police that are being defunded, it’s yours.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd in the event that their security solutions don’t work, they know that the politicians, the police, and even the most cringingly pro-crime prosecutors will rush to their defense.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAmerica’s public safety system used to be based around equality under the law. And that meant, among other things, that the same cops would answer your 911 call as anyone else’s. The destruction of the law also brought down equality and left a deeply unequal system.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhile San Francisco elites have their private armies, Kenosha small businesses had Kyle Rittenhouse. When people can no longer rely on the systems of public safety and criminal justice to protect them, they buy guns and they turn to anyone who will protect them.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhat does criminal justice reform look like? The council is co-chaired by \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/2021\/03\/exec-metoo-group-covered-bidens-sex-abuse-heads-daniel-greenfield\/\"\u003EJennifer Klein\u003C\/a\u003E, the former chief strategy and policy officer at the disgraced\u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/point\/2021\/08\/hollywoods-metoo-group-covered-biden-and-cuomos-daniel-greenfield\/\"\u003E Hollywood sexual harassment cover-up group\u003C\/a\u003E, Time's Up.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe former CEO of Time’s Up had to resign after her son was accused of sexual assault, the group was accused of \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/point\/2021\/08\/hollywoods-metoo-group-covered-biden-and-cuomos-daniel-greenfield\/\"\u003Esuppressing sexual assault allegations\u003C\/a\u003E against Joe Biden, hip-hop producer Russell Simmons, and Andrew Cuomo, among others. Klein and her organization had praised serial predator Andrew Cuomo for his “leadership” in protecting women.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ESo it's not especially surprising that the Council's National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality report warns that “we will work to end cash bail and reform our pretrial system, recognizing the harm these processes cause, particularly for black women and families.”\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ELast year, black women were \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/2021\/09\/black-lives-matter-killed-2000-black-people-daniel-greenfield\/\"\u003Ethe only group\u003C\/a\u003E who suffered more rapes than the year before.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe dismantling of bail protections has repeatedly put sexual predators and rapists back on the street to reoffend. Kamala Harris, who has advocated for the Gender Policy Council, ought to know that better than anyone else. Or at least she would if she had a conscience.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EKamala Harris had urged her supporters to donate to the Minnesota Freedom Fund which exists to bail out criminals.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EKamala helped raise millions to set loose monsters in Minnesota. The beneficiaries of the attack on bail protections for victims included Timothy Wayne Columbus, a child rapist accused of sexually assaulting a little girl, and \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/alphanews.org\/convicted-rapist-charged-in-two-new-cases-involving-sexual-assault-kidnapping-and-assault\/?fbclid=IwAR2rSzIM9g-2BC_HfjspINYHsKCsyv3jVrRsqIiSkqU2eZeVGQcER9VEw0k\"\u003EChristopher Boswell\u003C\/a\u003E, who had raped two women, hitting one over the head and trying to run her over, before assaulting his latest victim with a glass bottle.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EOthers included \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/minnesota-man-kamala-harris-bail-fund-charged-murder\"\u003EGeorge Howard\u003C\/a\u003E, bailed out for domestic assault before shooting a driver, \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/09\/22\/minnesota-freedom-fund-bail-charity-kamala-harris-domestic-abusers\/\"\u003EDonavan Dexter Boone\u003C\/a\u003E, accused of choking his ex-girlfriend in front of her children, Marcus Marshun Butler, of beating his girlfriend with a closed fist, Tyrone Thomas Shields, of leaving a \"larger than golf sized bump” on his wife's head, and Davlin Devonte Gates, of choking his girlfriend until she lost consciousness, after four previous domestic violence convictions.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“A big part of my career has been about protecting women and children,” Kamala Harris has falsely claimed. There are a whole bunch of women in Minnesota who would disagree.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EDid Kamala learn anything from lending her support for releasing rapists and abusers without bail? The National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality makes it clear she did not.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EEven as crime is soaring, the Biden-Harris administration is doubling down on pro-crime. And it’s trying to pass off its program of putting more criminals back on the street under the guise of helping women. But if there’s any group of people who have collectively done more damage to women than Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Time’s Up... it would be the Taliban.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ETo whom Joe Biden and Kamala Harris turned over the women and girls of Afghanistan.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ENow, Biden and Kamala would like the rapists and sexual abusers in this country to be able to do to the women and girls of America what the Taliban are doing to the women and girls of Afghanistan. And, like the Loudoun County School Board, they want to call it “equity”.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBeyond releasing rapists, Biden’s White House Gender Policy Council comes after women by demanding that men be able to compete against female athletes “free from discrimination” and vows that it will work to end “harmful gender norms”. Which seems to be all gender norms.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ENone of this helps women, but then again it’s no longer the Council on Women and Girls, instead the Biden-Harris administration erased women and renamed it to the Gender Policy Council, turning it into an extension of their own private war on the female gender.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe National Strategy on Gender Equity pushes every unrelated leftist agenda from global warming to welfare programs, while neglecting the female victims of its pro-crime policies.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIn 2019, 262,296 women fell victim to various crimes. In 2020, the year of the massive Black Lives Matter crime wave, 316,885 women became victims.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThose extra 54,589 women are a statistic the media makes sure we don’t hear about.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhat impact did the various crimes they endured have on their incomes, their health, their sense of security, their mental state, their ability to learn a living, and on their lives?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThat’s a question that the pro-crime Gender Policy Council has no interest in addressing.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E705 more women were murdered in the year of BLM when pro-crime policies became the law of the land and criminal justice systems were dismantled.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EOver 2,000 more were robbed. 78,676 more suffered property crimes than in the previous year.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E51,936 more women experienced aggravated assaults in 2020 than in 2019.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd the Biden administration has made it clear that it will go on championing the pro-crime policies that have made 2021 even worse for crime victims than even 2020.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\"He said, 'I want to f--- you,'\" Tara Reade recalls Joe Biden telling her before he assaulted her.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EEight women have accused Biden of inappropriate behavior. There are no doubt many more.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut as dangerous as Biden was to women, the Biden administration is even more so. Unsatisfied with the awful toll that his personal misconduct has inflicted on women, Joe Biden wants the women and girls of America to be terrified in their homes and their communities. Murders in Rose City rose by 83% breaking its previous high score set in 1987. As the Black Lives Matter race riots got underway, Portland went from 23 shootings in March 2020 to 104 by July of that same year. By March 2021, there were 93 shootings. Gone were the pleasant days of 2019 when Portlanders might complain about 30 shootings. The summer of 2021 saw around 400 shootings: more than in all of 2019.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ERose City Park with its cedars and rose gardens located right next to a golf course is exactly the sort of amenity that its upscale residents moved there for. Now it’s a brutal war zone.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut trapped in their woke fantasies, the city’s Eloi can’t come to terms with what’s happening.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EShoshana Gugenheim Kedem, Hadar’s mother, an “insectional feminist” who “dismantles patriarchy”, and advocated for “Palestinian rights”, denounced her daughter’s “white privilege”.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“We are a white family of privilege,” the leftist hipster artist confessed. “No one in our family wants to see the result of this be more police presence at parks. That’s not the answer.”\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhat was the answer? \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EGugenheim insisted that instead of police, the solution to a dozen men opening fire in the park was dealing with root causes, \"services for disadvantaged communities\", \"education\", \"gun control\", and \"a task force of people with equity training to tackle the issue of gun violence\".\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ECommissioner Jo Ann Hardesty, who had called for\u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/2021\/04\/portland-fights-1000-increase-murders-unarmed-park-daniel-greenfield\/\"\u003E defunding the police\u003C\/a\u003E before calling the police on her Lyft driver when he asked her to leave his car, welcomed Gugenheim’s nonsense.  \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut after years of dealing with root causes, offering more welfare and equity task forces, Portland tripled its shooting rate, and even the nicest places have become war zones. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EPortland Democrats cut $27 million from the police budget. Over 200 police officers have left the force leaving the city with far more armed gang members than cops. The failing city has stopped investigating and intervening in some crimes not just because of the pro-crime ethos of BLM, but because the manpower \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/politics\/articles\/2021-10-19\/a-dangerous-time-portland-oregon-sees-record-homicides\"\u003Edoesn’t even exist\u003C\/a\u003E to deal with the runaway crime wave.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“We are running on fumes. There’s no way we can investigate thoroughly, and correctly, all these shootings,\" Daryl Turner, the head of the police union, had warned.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut while the murderous Morlocks roam Portland, its woke Eloi refuse to deal with reality. They munch their soy, graze at trendy eateries, and huddle in their parks when the bullets fly. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“The Eloi, like the Carlovignan kings, had decayed to a mere beautiful futility. They still possessed the earth on sufferance,” H.G. Wells wrote in The Time Machine of a future humanity divided between the decadent Eloi who play all day and the Morlocks who live in the dark and prey on them. The Portland Eloi, like their fellow coastal city hipsters, possess their cafes and parks on a sufferance that vanishes when the gun-toting Morlocks come out of the darkness.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ENot even bullets flying next to their children’s faces can prompt anything except recitations of hollow dogma. Gugenheim did not blame the thugs who now freely roam the city without fear of the police for the gunfight in Rose City Park, but the desire of her “neighbor to own guns”.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EEven though any armed neighbors would be the final line of defense for her family.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EHow do you stop a dozen men with guns from opening fire in a park? With a dozen other armed men who are willing to put their lives on the line to stop them. The Portland cops, the armed men that the financial analysts and artists like the Gugenheim-Kedems had been paying to protect them from the brutal realities of human nature, increasingly no longer want the job. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd that’s how their son and daughter wound up dodging bullets in the park.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\"Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth,\" Mike Tyson used to say. “A conservative is a liberal who has been mugged by reality,” Irving Kristol observed. He added though that some liberals “refuse to press charges”.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIn her letter to the Portland City Council, Gugenheim denounces individualism and freedom, \"the gun laws in this country that obscure us from our freedoms rather than maintain them\", and calls for a collectivist \"freedom that nourishes interconnectedness, interdependence not the fierce \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003Eindependence for which gun supporters are staking ground.\" \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe interdependence of the herd animal whose only herd instinct is denial and is incapable of even banding together for mutual protection.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“I could talk about the fear in which children are being raised today. Fear to go to the playground, to walk down the street at night or even during the day,” she pleads.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\"And why were they so terribly afraid of the dark? I proceeded, as I have said, to question Weena about this Underworld, but here again I was disappointed. At first she would not understand my questions, and presently she refused to answer them. She shivered as though the topic was unendurable,\" H.G. Wells' Time Traveler relates.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhy are the mothers and the children of the Portland Eloi so afraid? They know the Morlocks are there. And nothing in their intellectual degeneracy has prepared them to face the threat.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EGuggenheim’s incoherent call to action blamed the fashionable culprit of \"systemic racism\" and insisted that the \"racism must be examined and reconciled\".  But the only systemic racism here was the shutdown of a service that minority communities needed most of all. That’s why polls show that white people are more likely to support defunding the police than minorities.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EMinorities are the canary in the crime coal mine. By the time upper class white people are dodging bullets, the situation is catastrophically bad because the warning signs were ignored.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhen Jacob Eli Knight Vasquez was shot and killed in Portland, his brother-in-law \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/politics\/articles\/2021-10-19\/a-dangerous-time-portland-oregon-sees-record-homicides\"\u003Epleaded\u003C\/a\u003E, \"Let’s please untie the hands of our law enforcement officers. Firearms background checks\u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/katu.com\/news\/on-your-side\/gun-sales-surge-in-oregon-amid-pandemic-election\"\u003E increased 32%\u003C\/a\u003E in Multnomah County. Without the police around, Portlanders have a choice between cringing in fear while prayerfully reciting passages from Ibram X. Kendi or defending their families. \u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\"There is so much to say about the complexity and absurdity of a nine-year-old appealing to her city council to please, please find the means to protect her and others from such wanton violence,\" Gugenheim complained to the Portland City Council.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“I know that not only do I want change, but everyone wants change,” her fourth-grade daughter told the City Council. “I want to feel safe.”\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut it's the City Council and her parents that placed her in danger.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAdults are supposed to protect children. It was the job of Hadar's parents to keep her safe by locking up criminals and empowering the police. They failed her and all the other children. And their only response to that failure is to double down on it, reciting the familiar doctrines, and throwing out worthless buzzwords, instead of doing anything practical to protect their city..\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe only thing that will stop the violence is to bring back the cops and lock up the criminals. And that’s the one thing that the mother of a child huddling as bullets whizzed by refuses to do.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“I grieved to think how brief the dream of the human intellect had been. It had committed suicide,” Wells’ Time Traveler observed.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe suicide notes are scattered across the streets of Portland, Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. She was working that night as a manager at a Casey’s General Store in Columbia helping out Mable Scruggs, another single mother, making ends meet by picking up a night shift. Neither of the two women would make it home again.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E An hour before midnight, Ernest Lee Johnson came in after a binge in which he bought three rocks of crack cocaine, traded one of them for a gun, put on a mask and came to rob Casey’s.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe plan had been to lock the employees in the back and have one of them open the safe. But then Johnson beat all three of the Casey's employees to death.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EHe stabbed Mary Bratcher repeatedly through her hand with a screwdriver, likely defensive wounds as she fought the monster for her life. Then he smashed her over the head with a claw hammer again and again. Johnson appeared to be aiming for her face, striking her mouth and nose, to disfigure her while killing her. He beat Mabel to death in the same vicious way.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThat was 1994. Like every monster, Johnson never had any shortage of defenders.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EHe was convicted and sentenced to death in 1995, but the Missouri Supreme Court intervened claiming that the jury should have heard testimony that the crackhead was actually suffering from \"cocaine intoxication delirium\". The case went to a jury yet again which refrained from excusing the crackhead on the grounds that he had been high while murdering three people.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd then the liberal justices on the United States Supreme Court gave murderers on death row a gift with a decision falsely contending that executing murderers with intellectual limitations was cruel and unusual punishment. Any killer who could claim an IQ under 100 was home free.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EInstantly every killer, no matter how cunning and clever, became retroactively retarded.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJohnson had plotted to rob the Casey's safe, he had carried out the crime, and then tried to conceal the evidence. He was evil and high, but not stupid. But the Missouri Supreme Court threw out the decision again and a third jury found the crackhead guilty all over again. But by then over a decade had passed since the original murders while the families waited for justice.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ETwo decades later, Johnson was finally scheduled to die when the United States Supreme Court intervened, complaining that the monster who beat two women to death with a claw hammer might suffer “painful seizures” when he’s executed by lethal injection because he has a tumor.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ESince then he found exciting new legal stratagems to delay justice, including requesting death by laughing gas and firing squad.\u0026nbsp;\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJustice Sonia Sotomayor, Breyer, and Kagan wanted to hear his plea for a firing squad.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“In addition to being near instant, death by shooting may also be comparatively painless. And historically, the firing squad has yielded significantly fewer botched executions,” Sotomayor ranted in her dissent.\u0026nbsp;\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: medium;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: medium;\"\u003EDid the court’s wise Latina develop a sudden fondness for firing squads? No more than the rest of the delaying tactics that kept the bludgeoner alive this long.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ELeftist lawyers and judges wage lawfare against the law and the victims to protect killers.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut now that Johnson is out of tricks, the Democrats have come to his defense.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ERep. Cori Bush, a former organzier for the racist hate group, Black Lives Matter, co-signed a petition demanding a commutation of Johnson's sentence because it's just like \"slavery and lynching\". It’s understandable that Bush would take that position considering that Mary and Mabel were white women and their worthless lives don’t matter to Black Lives Matter.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut Johnson’s first victim was the store’s third worker: Fred Jones.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJones, an African-American man, \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.columbiamissourian.com\/news\/local\/victims-family-prepares-for-execution-of-their-mothers-killer-ernest-lee-johnson\/article_f4c9f4ec-7f3a-11e5-9f69-e754a006f459.html\"\u003Ehad been the\u003C\/a\u003E only caregiver for his mother and a disabled brother. When Johnson murdered him, he also took away the only helper left in their lives.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJohnson started out by shooting Fred Jones. But when the bullet didn't kill him, the crackhead beat the store employee to death with a hammer instead.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThen he began the rest of his killing spree.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EFred Jones had been in the cooler, perhaps because as the only male in the store he was seen as more of a threat. And he may have resisted or tried to fight Johnson, leading the crackhead to decide to kill him.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd everyone else.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe killer had shot Jones in the head. Then he beat him with the claw on the hammer fracturing his skull.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut his black life, like the lives of the \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.frontpagemag.com\/fpm\/2021\/09\/black-lives-matter-killed-2000-black-people-daniel-greenfield\/\"\u003Eover 5,800 black people \u003C\/a\u003Ewho were killed in 2020, don’t matter to Rep. Bush and to Black Lives Matter. Only the lives of crackhead killers do.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EPro-crime lawfare had already put the families of Johnson’s victims through hell. When the Supreme Court decided to illegitimately intervene in his previous execution, the family members had \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/deathwatch.medium.com\/ernest-johnsons-execution-will-be-a-nothing-burger-d6f3a06c1cc7\"\u003Ealready been there\u003C\/a\u003E and waiting. Instead justice was denied to them for another six years.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: medium;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ERep. Cori Bush claims that executing the killer of a black man is racist, the NAACP is rallying on behalf of the killer, not the victim, and Pope Francis has appealed to the “sacredness of human life.” Except the lives of Mary Bratcher, Mable Scruggs, and Fred Jones which are not sacred.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“This would be a crime against humanity,\" Rep. Bush falsely claimed.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe crime against humanity was that Mary Bratcher never came home to her three children, that Mable Scruggs also never came home to her children, and Fred Jones never returned to his mother. But that is not the only crime here. The feverish efforts to prolong the pain of their family members in order to keep the monster who killed them alive is a crime against humanity.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd a crime against justice.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EEvery dirty trick, every fashionable legal trend, from mental disability to the supposed risk of side effects from death penalty drugs, had been enlisted in the crackhead killer’s defense.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\"These death sentences are not about justice,” Bush and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver whined in their pro-killer petition. \"They are about who has institutional power and who doesn’t.\"\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThey’re right.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhich House members have spoken out on behalf of Mary Bratcher, Mable Scruggs, and Fred Jones? Do Bush and Cleaver even know their names? Does Pope Francis? I doubt it.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe institutional power that allowed the killer to escape justice for 27 years is on his side.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThis is not about justice, it’s about who has institutional power. And it’s the killers who have all the power and their victims who have none. After Johnson got through beating three people, poor people, to death with hammers, lawyers and judges took up what he had left undone.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EEven Rep. Cori Bush and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver took a turn swinging the claw hammer.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EHollywood, the media, and politicians keep pushing the big lie that criminals are helpless victims of the system. And yet they provide the best evidence of the vast institutional power that even the lowest and vilest killer can summon against justice and the families of his victims.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cp\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/p\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Ci\u003E\u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/sultanknish.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003EDaniel Greenfield\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;is a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center. But the opposite happened in 2020 as Democrats and some libertarian Republicans colluded to dismantle the criminal justice system, open up the jails, and endorse Black Lives Matter.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe pro-crimers have the blood of thousands on their hands.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe FBI’s numbers are in and they show that Black Lives Matter and its corporate backers killed more black people in one year than anything short of an African civil war.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E3,595 black people were murdered in 2019. But in 2020, 5,839 black people were murdered.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThat's an additional 2,244 black people killed.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E56% of the murder victims of 2020 were black.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhile people of all races were more likely to be murdered in the year of Black Lives Matter, black people were disproportionately likely to be killed as a result of police defunding and the George Floyd Effect, as well as the pressure on the justice system to open up prisons, free criminals, and stop arresting new criminals in the name of fighting for the big lie of racial justice.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E3,060 white and Latino people were killed in 2019, which rose to 4,167 in 2020. The 36% increase is devastating, but the number of black people murdered in 2020 shot up 62%.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe 62% increase in the murders of black people should be the headline in every single media outlet which currently treats the lack of black classical musicians or chefs as a major crisis.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhile statistics like 135 \"unarmed\" black people being shot by police in 5 years becomes a cause for massive riots, violent assaults on innocent people, and the defunding of the police, a 62% increase in the murders of black people won’t even get a mention from the same media which regales us with claims that car accidents are racist because of disproportionate impact.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe 62% increase in the murders of black people is the biggest disproportionate impact statistic.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIf the 2,244 black people had been shot by white people, Asian people, or Republicans, we could talk about it. Indeed, the odds are that we would never talk about anything else. Ever.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut unfortunately it’s the devastating result of black-on-black crime.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBlack perpetrators were responsible for 5,832 murders or approximately 50% of the murders despite making up only around 13% of the population.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhite people and Latinos who make up 76% of the country accounted for 3,981 homicides or 34%. American Indians were responsible for 116 murders and Asians for only 65 murders.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBlack people both commit murders and are the victims of murders at disproportionate rates.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThere is no escaping these facts.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ECoddling criminals and defunding police hurts people of all races, but black people are the ones suffering the worst from the gang members and criminals in their communities.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe number of black murderers rose 38% from 4,208 to 5,832. That’s a sharp increase in black murderers, but it’s dwarfed by the 62% increase in black murders. The number of black crime victims is rising much faster than the number of black criminals.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBlack people are becoming victims at higher rates than they are becoming criminals.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThat is exactly why it was black communities who originally championed a crackdown on crime, why the NAACP had originally demanded the death penalty for drug dealers, and why black people are still far more likely to oppose police defunding and other pro-crime measures.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EEven in the one category of violent crime, rape, that decreased overall in 2020, that was true of every group except one where the number of black rape victims defied the trend.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut black rape victims, like black lives, don’t matter to Black Lives Matter.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIn Israel, the hashtag Arab Lives Matter took off after the rise in arab-on-arab crime to demand that Israeli police stop the criminals. In the United States, Black Lives Matter is a demand that the police allow gang members to shoot up black neighborhoods with no interference.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe additional 2,244 dead black people are a tribute to Black Lives Matter’s efforts.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhile Robin DiAngelo cashes in preaching the cult of anti-racism, and suburban white liberals search their souls for systemic racism, what’s really destroying black people is in the numbers.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E5,839 black people were murdered in one year.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EHomicide doesn't even make the CDC's \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/healthequity\/lcod\/men\/2017\/nonhispanic-black\/index.htm\"\u003Etop 10 causes \u003C\/a\u003Eof death for men in America, but it's number four for black men. In 2017, it caused 5% of the deaths of black men, more than strokes, diabetes, or most diseases. The only things more likely to kill black men than black-on-black crime are heart disease, cancer, and accidents.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAmong black men under the age of 20, homicide is the leading cause of death at 35.3%.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E(Those were 2017 numbers, the 2020 numbers, if they’re released, will be much worse.)\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIt's also the leading cause of death for black men from 20-44 years old at 27.6%.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EOnly at the age of 65 does homicide drop out of the top 10 causes of death for black men.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThere are no such numbers among any other group, including black women. They reflect a high rate of gang violence, drug dealing, and violent crime among a subset of black men. This crisis is not news. There has been ample research on the subject going back generations that the new wokeness decided to shut down, suppress, and penalize anyone who mentioned it.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIn 2020, the Left used George Floyd’s overdose death to initiate a massive cultural revolution, supposedly on behalf of black people, but in reality to spread terror and seize power.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJust as the proletariat paid the price for the leftist revolutions conducted on behalf of the working class, black men are paying the price for the latest revolution being waged on their behalf. The people paying the price may be ordinary, or they may be gang members themselves. The dismantling of the criminal justice system also led to an unprecedented expansion in crime that recruited a generation of black teens into drug dealing, robbery, and carjacking. The police now routinely arrest armed carjackers as young as twelve years old as part of the new crime wave.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EEven if a new anti-crime consensus is forged between conservative Republicans and moderate Democrats who shed the madness of criminal justice reform, the damage will be hard to fix.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ECracking down on crime increased property values in black areas, led to a growth in black small businesses, and made it more possible for black teens to go to college, and earn higher incomes. Black Lives Matter calculatedly undermined many of those achievements. The teens whom teachers’ unions kept out of school, joined gangs, and began to deal and steal will find it much harder to build stable lives. The women they might have married and the families they might have built are more casualties. It is hard to build things, but all too easy to break them.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe 5,839 dead black people are just the most obvious sign of the social wreckage.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhile black people are the biggest victims of black crime, they are not alone. As these statistics show, we all pay a price. Some pay it directly in the forms of murders, muggings, and assaults. But we all pay for the social cost indirectly through our taxes, the price of goods and services, the cost of insurance, the broken social compact and lack of trust, and the diminished future of our cities and our country. The criminal justice reform movement, like all leftist propositions, was based on ignoring everything we had learned from the past about crime and how to fight it.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe Black Lives Matter movement terrorized cities and became the official dogma of Corporate America. Every major institution began accusing itself of systemic racism and purging itself.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EMeanwhile thousands of black men died in the streets of major cities. The CEOs and university presidents heard the death toll reported on the evening news and paid no attention because it was taking place in neighborhoods and housing projects that they would never set foot into.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ENow the sum total of the carnage is in. 5,839 black people killed. 2021 is on track to see more elevated murder rates.
