easy on child pornography traffickers.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhen Republicans tried to bring up Jackson’s horrifying actions, the media shouted them down.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe Los Angeles Times called Republicans asking Jackson basic questions about why Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson refused to lock up pedophiles \"sickening\", Vanity Fair called it \"vile\", and Vox denounced it as \"grotesque\".\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EDo you know what’s truly \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/02\/ketanyi-brown-jackson-even-chose-leniency-in-baby-sex-cases\/\"\u003Esickening, vile and grotesque\u003C\/a\u003E?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhen sentencing one pedophile, Jackson claimed that his crimes which included possession of a video of a  “pre-pubescent boy being penetrated anally and orally”, were not \"particularly egregious\".\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E227 leftists were arrested when they staged an insurrection during the Kavanaugh hearings because his high school yearbook contained a supposed coded reference to making out with a high school girl. The media “annotated” the yearbook of a man in his fifties speculating that “Orioles vs. Red Sox — Who Won, Anyway?” could be \"jokes about being blackout drunk.\"\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut we're not allowed to ask a judge who wants the top job in the country why she sentenced a violent child rapist to only 12 months with time served after he had lied about his whereabouts.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EInstead of being locked up for a few years, he was out and committed another sexual assault, at which point Jackson once again went easy on him.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThat didn’t happen in 1982,\u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/03\/rapist-gets-lax-sentence-from-jackson-then-nabbed-for-sex-assault\/\"\u003E but in 2017\u003C\/a\u003E. A year before the Kavanaugh hearings.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut if we talk about any of this, it’s “bigotry” and “hate”. Opposing the sexual abuse of children is the new hate. And every defender of sexually abusing children has jumped into the cause.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe Oscars, whose leading lights are responsible for more sexual assaults than an entire prison full of rapists, used their forum to attack Florida’s effort to protect children from sexual grooming in schools with the “Parental Rights Bill” which they and their media smear as, “Don’t Say Gay”.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe Left has embraced pedophilia in its Supreme Court nomination and in its opposition to parental rights. It rants that only haters would think that there’s anything wrong with going easy on pedophiles and that unrelated adults talking to kindergarteners about sex is a civil right and anyone who opposes it is a horrible bigot. No one who isn’t a pedophile or a Jackson agrees.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EEven 52% to 36% of Florida Democrats support banning teachers from pushing sex on children.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ENationally, the vast majority of Republicans, Independents, Democrats, and human beings agree with the words of the bill, “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through third grade.”\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EDisney, the former employer of Harvey Weinstein and \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/disneys-child-predator-problem\"\u003Edozens of sex offenders\u003C\/a\u003E, disagrees.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWho gets to decide? As New York Magazine's Jonathan Chait put it, \"DeSantis's Threats to Disney Is What Post-Trump Authoritarianism Looks Like\".\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAuthoritarianism has now come to mean letting parents and voters, rather than a major corporation, decide whether anyone who manages to obtain a teaching license should be pushing creepy sexual agendas on school children as opposed to the public-private pedophilia partnership that is fueling the hate campaign against parental rights.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EA decade ago, the Sun Sentinel noted that\u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.sun-sentinel.com\/news\/fl-xpm-2010-04-25-fl-teacher-misconduct-profiles-20100416-story.html\"\u003E over 175 Florida teachers\u003C\/a\u003E had their teaching licenses pulled for sexual misconduct.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAn elementary school teacher in Naples admitted to sexually abusing \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/education\/2022\/03\/05\/florida-teacher-hector-manley-abuse-parkside-elementary-school-unreported\/6894796001\/?gnt-cfr=1\"\u003Eat least 19 children\u003C\/a\u003E. Despite a little girl reporting, “Mr. Manley touches people’s private parts”, the educational system covered up for him and kept him on the job. An investigation published this year noted that \"Manley began molesting children his first day on the job, and there wasn’t a single month during his employment at Parkside when he wasn’t abusing students.\"\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EA few weeks ago a Brevard County middle school teacher was busted by the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) for soliciting nude photos.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWho thinks it’s a good idea to authorize these types of people to talk to six years old about sex?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBesides Disney, Ketanji Brown Jackson and every major celebrity with an Instagram account.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe media deems talking about this to be homophobic, transphobic, and, when discussing Jackson’s hands off policy on pedophiles, racist. Protecting children is hateful. Standing up for their innocence is bigoted. Opposing pedophilia is almost certainly some sort of hate crime.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJackson could not answer what a woman is, because she’s not a biologist. Nor could she answer at what age a child deserves \u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/www.danielgreenfield.org\/2022\/03\/the-moral-poverty-of-identity-politics.html\"\u003Ethe right to live\u003C\/a\u003E. After generations of embracing the murder of babies as the highest form of feminism, leftists now insist that the only real women are men, and that any babies they don’t manage to kill in the womb should be subjected to sexual grooming, puberty blockers, and any other monstrous tools for destroying their future.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EUnlike Jackson’s decision to hand a mandatory-minimum sentence to a monster who \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/02\/ketanyi-brown-jackson-even-chose-leniency-in-baby-sex-cases\/\"\u003Euploaded a video \u003C\/a\u003Eof a “a prepubescent girl\" being sexually assaulted which is instead seen as “loving”.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIf the Left actually cared about women and children, there would be 227 protesters arrested to condemn the very thought of Jackson tainting the Supreme Court with her sickening presence.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EInstead we’re lectured that Jackson’s nomination is “historic” because while there have been black men on the bench and women of all shades, she checks a box that has not yet been checked. Beyond the box of ‘pedophile enabler’ which was not born into, but honestly earned.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd we’re told that pushing sex on kindergarteners is also a wonderful form of love for them as if that weren’t the argument that every pedophile before them had made since time immemorial.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ENow the Left wants pedophilia in the curriculum and on the Supreme Court as an “act of love”.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ELove means fighting for the right to groom six year olds and to free child molesters. Hate has come to mean fighting for women and children, whether for their right to privacy and modesty, or to be free of the sexual coercion and abuse that has become the Left’s signature form of love.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ELeftists chorus that anyone who opposes this leftist love is practicing hate. But behind this love is the worst kind of hate. Dostoevsky and Tchaikovsky have nothing to do with the war, but the invasion was ordered by a former KGB officer who, like virtually every Soviet student, was obligated to write papers on Marxism-Leninism, and by a military built up to fight a global campaign to spread Marxism-Leninism around the world. Including into Ukraine.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut canceling Marx over a war in 2022 is the perfect embodiment of postmodern shallowness.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe Young Democratic Socialists of America, the pro-Bernie and AOC-linked campus group, put up a petition demanding, without a trace of irony, “Free Karl Marx.”\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EConsidering the number of political prisoners still locked up in Marxist prisons in Latin America, especially in Venezuela, “Free Marx’s Prisoners” might have been a more decent slogan.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“The current Russian imperialist state is run by capitalist oligarchs who hold no affinity for the Marxist slogan: ‘From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs’” the YDSA petition complains. Then again the Soviet Union was an oligarchy which used the slogan, but whose elites lived in dachas while peasants starved. Marx, who never worked a day in his life, lived through the sweat and toil of the factory workers of the Engels family.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIn its bid to prove that Russia isn’t Marxist, the YDSA proved that Marx was un-Marxist. And if Marx isn’t a true Marxist, who is?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe YDSA claimed that, \"The removal of the Karl Marx group study room is not only historically illiterate but insulting to UF students who have been fighting for years to change the name of buildings glorifying racists and homophobes.\"\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBad news, Karl Marx was extremely racist (as well as antisemitic, but that would just make the DSAers, who hate Jews even more than free enteprise, love him all the more.)\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut sometimes Marx would combine them both, like referring to one of his many rivals as a “Jew N___r”  following that up with, “It is now quite plain to me — as the shape of his head and the way his hair grows also testify — that he is descended from the negroes who accompanied Moses’ flight from Egypt (unless his mother or paternal grandmother interbred with a n----- ).”\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd to think Marx’s statues are one of the few left standing even as lefties have been toppling George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EMarx, of course, accepted the basic premises of eugenics, and his insane ravings include the popular 19th century idea that the character of nations could be explained by their racial origins. Tie that in with the idiotic racial phrenology in the above paragraph and you know more about what made Marx tick than the average Marxist who reads him, but doesn’t understand him.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhat would Marx have made of the war between Russia and Ukraine? Despite Russia’s embrace of Marxism, its progenitor despised Russians (and all non-Germans), considering them subhuman Mongols. And the Ukranians? Marx believed that they should be part of Poland.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EOverall though Marx, like the Nazis, believed that anything east of Germany was populated by barbarians who needed to be turned over to an empire who would enslave or exterminate them. This was not an unusual idea which is why the Nazi program met with so little opposition.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EPutin’s assertion that Ukraine never existed is grounded in the writings of Karl Marx who routinely denied that the small independent nations east of Germany had any right to exist.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThere’s little doubt that Karl Marx would be on Russia’s side in this war. But he would also hold out hope that Germany would sweep in and conquer all of the subhuman “barbarian” races.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIf the YDSA doesn’t want the names of racists on campus, it may want to start with Marx.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut focusing on Marx’s bigotry is the silly fetish of a 21st century campus political purity culture. Most people throughout human history were bigots of one kind or another. The problem with Marx wasn’t that he held fairly typical racial views for 19th century leftist elites, including most Democrats, it’s that he popularized a radical ideology that called for tyranny, mass murder, and war. The common denominator in Marx’s hateful ravings is his egomania and disdain for human life. The father of Marxism wasn’t motivated by human compassion. His advocacy for the working class was composed of ideological abstractions that justified his megalomania.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe YDSA, Bernie Sanders, AOC, and much of the socialist movement are the inheritors of Marxian logic in which abstract outrage justifies egotistical tirades and ruthless power grabs.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThat is the source of Marx’s appeal and it lodges everywhere including critical race theory.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe problem with Marx is that his ideas helped lead to the deaths of millions and to generations of bloody revolutions and tyrannical regimes only to find a new wave of recruits on college campuses ready to perpetuate the next war and the next campaign of bloody revolution.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe motto of the University of Florida is \"Civium in moribus rei publicae salus\" or \"The welfare of the state depends upon the morals of its citizens\". The motto isn't an unusual one for public universities. Its message is that using taxpayer funds to maintain bodies of higher education is justified because they strengthen the civic body by building the moral fiber of its citizenry.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EDoes having a Karl Marx room strengthen or weaken the body of the state of Florida?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIs there one country that has been improved by Marxism? Has any portion of the world become more peaceful and more stable due to hearty infusions of Marxism?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAs badly as Russia and Ukraine may be doing now, they’re still better off without Marxism. And, decades after the fall of the Soviet Union, that can be a little too easy to forget. Both countries are fighting over wealth that simply didn’t exist under Communism while enjoying a standard of living that actually makes sanctions on Russia over what used to be luxury goods bite.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ERussia and Ukraine are better off without Marxism. And so are the calls for his impeachment. None of them have even the faintest basis in anything resembling the law.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe Women's March called for the impeachment of Justice Thomas because his wife, Ginni, had advocated against election fraud. Or as the racist leftist hate group put it, \"The revelations that Ginni Thomas advocated for the overthrow of our democracy are disqualifying — not just for her as a human being of any decency, but for her husband.”\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EA “human being of any decency” wouldn’t be going after a judge by targeting his wife.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe only possible reason for disqualifying Thomas would be the presumption that men are obligated to control their wives. And prevent them from expressing political views in public.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIs this the exciting new feminist position that the Women’s March would like to debut?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWould any of the great minds at the Women’s March like to contemplate the legal implications of creating a male guardianship for women of the kind that might have existed in the 18th century?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJustice Breyer’s wife is a member of the English nobility, it doesn’t mean he answers to the Queen.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJudges whose spouses have an “interest” in a case are obligated to recuse themselves from it. But having political views about a national issue is not the same thing as having an “interest” in it. I doubt there’s a single judicial spouse who didn’t have an opinion on the 2020 election. And many of them may have signed petitions, posted comments, or otherwise urged an outcome.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EOr participated in the Women’s March attacking the legitimacy of the 2016 presidential election.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThat’s political activism, it’s not an “interest”.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe New York Times and the New Yorker cited a federal law stating that judges must rescue themselves if their spouses have “an interest that could be substantially affected by the outcome of the proceeding.” A point of view is not an interest. If it were, there could be no married judges.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ENevertheless law professor Lawrence Tribe tweeted, “That clearly applied here.” How?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“By writing to Meadows, who was chief of staff and active in the ‘Stop the Steal’ movement, she joined the team resisting the results of the election,” Stephen Gillers, an NYU prof quoted by the New York Times, convolutedly \u003Ca href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/03\/25\/us\/supreme-court-clarence-thomas-recusal.html\"\u003Eargued\u003C\/a\u003E. “She made herself part of the team and so she has an interest in the decisions of the court that could affect Trump’s goal of reversing the results.”\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EMillions of Americans have phoned, sent letters and emails to members of Congress advocating particular policies. Did they all join the “team” of every single public official whom they contacted? Should any judges they’re married to have to recuse themselves from those cases?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EHad Ginni Thomas been formally employed by the Trump team, it would be another story. Instead she was an activist urging members of the team to do everything they possibly could.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIt doesn’t make her a member of the team.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIf that weren’t absurd enough, both media outlets have cited a law stating that “any justice, judge or magistrate judge of the United States shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned.” Is there any federal judge, appointed as part of a partisan process, whose impartiality can’t be reasonably questioned in partisan cases?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAs usual the Left has invented a standard that it doesn’t intend to apply in any other cases. Certainly not in any cases where it would inhibit its stable of unconstitutional judicial activists.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E“What did Justice Clarence Thomas know, and when did he know it?” a New York Times op-ed demanded. The author, Jesse Wegman, a Times editor, presumably knows the political views of his wife, Kyra, and also, presumably, he writes his own views in his columns. Not hers.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThis isn’t a complicated concept for any functional adult.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ESupreme Court justices are aware of the storm of controversy over the cases in front of them. They’re expected to follow the law and rule accordingly without taking into account the views of family members, friends, and New York Times editors. That’s what they do for a living.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThomas married Ginni in 1987. By then he was nearly 40 years old and had worked as a lawyer, a prosecutor, and as a civil rights official in the Reagan administration. He had developed his own point of view on the world. A unique one as testified by his rulings over the years.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ELeftists and their media would like us to believe that the only reason Justice Thomas believes anything or rules on anything is because his white wife tells him to do it. That’s stupidly racist.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EEven those who violently hate Thomas ought to be able to admit that he has a developed judicial philosophy and that his rulings reflect that unique worldview. The idea that a man who has defied expectations throughout his life, who has persevered despite being repeatedly hit with every racial slur in the book, is just following his wife’s lead is dumb beyond belief.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd yet this is the argument that the lynch mob targeting Justice Thomas is going with.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAfter all the fury over his wife’s activism, what does this amount to in Justice Thomas’ rulings? Where is the evidence of any conflict of interest or any violation of the law? It doesn’t exist.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe New York Times noted that \"Justices Thomas and Samuel A. Alito Jr.\" responded to the Supreme Court rejecting an election lawsuit by Texas by \"issuing a brief statement suggesting the majority had acted too soon in shutting the case down.\" Actually Alito wrote the dissent, with Thomas joining him, on procedural grounds. At the time the dissent was issued, the media and its legal experts argued that it was not a ruling on the election, but on jurisdictional standing.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe paper also misleadingly notes that, \"Justice Thomas addressed election fraud in a dissent from the Supreme Court’s decision to turn away a challenge to Pennsylvania’s voting procedures.\" The Supreme Court had previously deadlocked several times over the issue with previous dissents by Alito, Gorsuch, and Thomas, and the Thomas dissent highlighted by the paper had focused on the importance of providing \"clear rules for future elections.\"\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe media and its legal experts, shoddy as they may be, know all this perfectly well. They know that the paper is deliberately misrepresenting these cases in order to single out Thomas.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd that there’s no basis for doing so.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThomas wrote as one of the court’s two leading conservatives, along with Alito, and there was nothing unique in his dissents that deviated from his judicial philosophy. I believe that the Supreme Court... um... actually I, I actually don't know the answer to that question — I'm sorry — I don't,\" she awkwardly replied.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe postmodern leftist notion of human rights revolves around pursuing equity for discriminated groups. Leftists like Jackson have thorough notions about what equal protection looks like for black or transgender people, but no notion of a grander principle that protects all human life.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJackson obviously found the question uncomfortable because it addresses abortion. And yet even a militant abortion supporter like Jackson ought to be able to tackle the basic moral question of when life begins and when human rights come into play. The Framers are often attacked for refusing to grapple with the moral questions of slavery, yet they did. That they narrowly chose not to break up the country over a monstrous evil did not change the fact that they struggled to reconcile their ideals and the compromises they believed they had to make.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ELeftists, like the most hard-boiled defenders of slavery, refuse to even admit that there’s an issue. Jackson’s smirking response would have befitted a Buchanan Democrat pretending not to understand that human slavery might have moral, not just economic, legal implications.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIdentity politics reduces every issue to victimhood. The same worldview that makes it all too easy to blame highways and obesity on systemic racism makes it equally impossible for leftist jurists like Jackson to even conceive of life and liberty as natural rights bestowed on everyone. And yet it was this conviction that eventually overturned slavery and segregation.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\"Do you have a personal belief though about when life begins?\" Senator Kennedy asked Ketanji Brown Jackson.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\"I have a religious view that I set aside when I am ruling on cases,\" she replied.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJudges shouldn't rule from theology, but the idea that their religious moral convictions should play no role in basic notions of rights is alien to the words of the Declaration of Independence that \"all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness\".\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIf religious views of human rights are things to be set aside, then what is the basis for anyone's rights? Judicial precedent, a \"living constitution\" that incorporates current academic doctrines, the pursuit of equity? Those are where leftists derive their moral authority and notions of rights.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd yet without that grand conviction that human equality and rights proceed from a higher power, they remain at the mercy of judges like Jackson who can decide when to take them away. And Jackson is unable to even articulate when those rights actually begin which will make it that much more morally and intellectually easier for her to take them away, from babies and from anyone else whose existence obstructs her political ideology and personal biases.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJackson can’t comprehend rights except in terms of equity. If a group isn’t sufficiently wealthy, healthy, or otherwise successful, the government has to step in and alter the equation. But if a group is all of the above, then the government needs to examine how it oppressed others.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThis Procrustean Bed in which the government stretches some and shrinks others in pursuit of the impossible mission of making everyone equal is the only kind of rights leftists understand. And they have no notion of the origin of rights except as a mindless pursuit of leveling everyone, and an atonement for the social sins that resulted in everyone not being equally successful.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ERather than looking back to an origin point, they look forward to a secular utopian “right side of history”, a transcendentalist conviction that one day we will all be made equal, to justify everything they believe and everything they do. And so you can’t ask Ketanji Brown Jackson when rights begin, because they haven’t ended yet. The present is just an unfinished future.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ERights don’t begin with God or with our founding documents, they run backward in time from some inchoate socialist future which they intend to achieve by forcibly “equalizing” all of us.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJackson couldn’t process the question of when universal human rights come into being, because she doesn’t view rights as universal except in the sense that everyone has the right to be made equal. To assess whether someone has rights, leftists have to know their race, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background and other details that indicate where they stand on the equity spectrum. Asking them to articulate rights without reference to equity is like asking Thomas Jefferson where rights come from if there was no Creator or guiding natural order.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhat rights does a baby have? According to leftists, the right to be made equal. The only real right in leftist judicial doctrine is the right to have what others have. And the amplification of whatever privileges and benefits are necessary to cut in line in order to achieve equity.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBut does a baby have the right to live? That simple question whose parameters the Founders and Framers would have had no trouble understanding, frustrates and infuriates leftist jurists to whom rights are not natural, but relative, and not individual, but collective. While they can amply expound on the plight of transgender Navajo Indians, they can’t offer a decision on the life of a single infant of unknown race and sex because they don’t believe in rights apart from identity.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ELeftists can’t affirm natural universal rights, only compare rights relative to someone else.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAsk a leftist to compare my rights to your rights and they can easily do it. A baby can’t have innate natural rights, but must have her rights compared to her mother and to society at large. Stakeholders must be consulted, and papers must be reviewed on the status of women in Colonial America to derive who is the greater victim and who is entitled to more rights.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe question of when human rights are conferred is baffling and annoying to Jackson. In her legalistic worldview, the question “when” is almost entirely irrelevant. It’s like asking “when is racism” or “when is sexism”. The dividing lines in leftist jurisprudence are not based on time or other rational metrics, but the subjective and relative ones of who loses and who gains.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThat’s why asking for firm rational metrics for anything is routinely derided as white western masculine thinking in academic circles. Leftists prefer to make decisions based on lived experience which is another way of saying anecdotal subjectivity which leaves plenty of room for personal bias, but none for any meaningful guarantee of rights beyond momentary feelings.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe Founders and Framers were certainly flawed, but they proceeded from an understanding of rights that expanded them, while leftists like Jackson can only contract and reduce them. Where our nation’s founders universalized rights, leftists use equity to deuniversalize them, replacing general guarantees of human rights with situational activism through academic lenses.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThey claim that they are expanding rights when all they’re doing is taking away our universal natural rights and replacing them with a ranked caste system of identity politics privileges that can bestow a “right” to a house, a car, or fat-free yogurt, but not the absolute right to live.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhere the Bill of Rights could define free speech as a universal right, leftists have dismantled the ACLU and insist that only the people who agree with them should have free speech. And so it goes for everything from the right to assemble to freedom of the press. Conservatives rightly see this as an unconstitutional double standard because it transgresses universal rights. But leftists only see universal rights as a leveling mechanism that only applies to the extent that it makes people more equal, but not when it does not. And so it’s natural for them to reject the idea that their opponents, who they argue make people less equal, should have free speech.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThis is the totalitarian logic of civil rights which has slowly taken away rights from everyone.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ECancel culture is the inevitable result of the impulse to make people equal by destroying those who are perceived to stand in the way of the social activism that is the only source of equality.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIs it any wonder that Jackson can’t articulate or even grasp the concept that universal human rights exist and that they have some origin point in the process of human development?\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EJackson’s incomprehension of the question reveals the moral bankruptcy of identity politics.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIdentity politics is not making us a better society, more concerned with rights, it’s transforming us from a society that believed everyone had rights to a society which has no concept of rights.\u003C\/span\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: medium;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: medium;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: medium;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/span\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: medium;\"\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"font-size: medium;\"\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003C\/div\u003E\u003Cdiv style=\"font-size: medium;\"\u003E\u003Cdiv\u003E\u003Ci\u003E\u003Ca href=\"http:\/\/sultanknish.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"\u003EDaniel Greenfield\u003C\/a\u003E\u0026nbsp;is a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center. If that doesn’t stop Putin, I don’t know what will.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhen virtue signaling goes up against tanks, especially by people thousands of miles away who, unlike a nameless Chinese protester, would never have the guts to actually get in their way, then the tanks win. Virtue signaling, like most of wokeness, is all about feelings, while tanks are mechanical beasts that project force in the real world. Twitter is not the real world.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWars are a serious business and woke societies are profoundly unserious. Wokeness, like Putin’s regime or Xi’s China, punishes political dissent, but it is convinced that social shaming is the ultimate power in the universe because of how powerful it makes the shamers feel.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EMegalomaniacs are obsessed with wielding power over others and in our democratically crowdsourced megalomania anyone can live the dream by canceling someone else.  Entire internet subcultures are based around collecting damaging information about targets and then unleashing it in one strategic reputational assault that leaves the victim broken and jobless.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThis sadistic social justice fetish makes the perpetrators feel righteous and powerful.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIt’s why they do it.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe issue, whether it’s the sacred right of men to shower with teenage girls, thugs breaking windows because a drug dealer croaked, or a war someplace they never heard of, isn’t the issue. The real issue is the rush that comes from wielding power over other people’s lives.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EReal power isn’t canceling someone on Twitter, it’s sending six figures worth of troops into someone else’s country. Just ask Putin or Xi who are a whole lot better at cancel culture.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe internet has given horrible people the illusion of power, but power is still real power.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBiden bet everything on stopping the Russian invasion by pitting cancel culture against a war machine. And while the sanctions will no doubt hurt Russia’s economy, much like the economic pain leveled against Iraq before the war or North Korea, the regime usually finds ways to profit.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ESome oligarchs may lose their yachts, but gain a country. Only Kerry wouldn’t take that trade.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe Biden administration’s policy takes its cues not just from traditional sanctions, but from the virtue signaling of woke culture. The resulting collectivism makes America and Europe look like Russia without achieving anything more than the self-righteous solidarity of the smugly virtuous.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003ERussia, unlike that guy in the coffee shop, can’t be canceled. And only an administration of idiot leftists would think that cultural bullying can somehow defeat military grade bullying. Tweets don’t beat tanks and shooting is a lot more powerful than scolding. The pen may be mightier than the sword, but that came from an era when writers generally had something worth saying.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIn a culture defined by culture wars, narrative looks like victory. But narratives rarely last more than a few years. We can see now that some of the most powerful cultural trends of the past few years, Black Lives Matter and COVID safetyism, lasted only a few years. Where in the past a successful cultural movement might have stuck around for a generation, it’s now months.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhen culture is worthless, nailing down real achievements means building things, earning money and winning wars. Culture and its narratives have ceased to be anything more than the momentary tactics and psychological spasms which leftist hegemony has reduced them to.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EUkraine’s propaganda campaign, unlike Russia’s and the incompetent virtue signaling of our elites, has been effective because while it can be misleading, it is grounded in an actual war. Westerners are bathing in the propaganda of a culture war which is not only misleading, but the hollow pursuit of hollow people using a war thousands of miles away to try and feel something.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EFree of any real risk, Americans are able to vicariously imagine themselves in the roles of the Ukrainians or the Russians, fantasizing about a military intervention or a nuclear war that is not going to happen because despite the false immediacy of the media and social media, we are not actually involved. The war may be in our living rooms, but it does not actually touch us.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EPropaganda and emotional frenzies are a means to an end in a war, but wokeness has made emotion into its own end. Saturday Night Live features the Ukrainian national anthem and special orders are rushed to China to purchase massive quantities of Ukrainian flags which had not been previously in demand outside of some areas of Chicago and Pittsburgh not because they really want Ukraine to win, but because it’s the latest show that they’re invested in.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EAnd, much like with Game of Thrones or Succession, once the soap opera du jour is over, they will move on and forget that they were ever invested in that momentary vessel of their emotions.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThere will be no World War III or IV because we’re too busy fighting World War Woke.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EBiden, who fled Kabul and left thousands of Americans behind to avoid a clash with the Taliban, who is surrendering to Iran and China, and whose response to Putin is empty virtue signaling, doesn’t want a war. Neither do the vast majority of Americans. Even the ones demanding it.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhy bother? Social media is even better at delivering all the immersion of war than CNN could ever manage during the Gulf War. And, best of all, the highs and lows, the outrage and grief, come without any real losses or costs to us. Biden gets a massive distraction and people get to feel, to add flags to their profiles, pour vodka into gutters, and pretend that it’s all really real.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EWhatever we do, the war will play out with the inevitable logic of steel, oil, and firepower.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EPeople will die, as they have before in Georgia and the Ukraine, and then there will be a new war on TV. Perhaps Xi will finally make his move to seize Taiwan, or maybe Iran will move to try and destroy Israel in time for Purim. Corporations will signal their virtue, city councils will pass resolutions, and Biden will stumble through another meaningless teleprompter speech.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EIt won’t matter because we increasingly don’t matter. Our enemies know it and so do our allies.\u003Cbr \/\u003E\u003Cbr \/\u003EThe good news is that there will be no WWIII or IV. The West and America will not end with a bang, but with a social media whimper.
