The Democrats were the pro-slavery party in 1865, now they are the party of the 'underprivileged'. This is impressive image management, but it took many years, a few wars and an economic disaster to achieve.

What it takes is VISION, both Reagan and Thatcher (in UK) had this (and at the same time!).

Dictating from the assumed moral high ground, the Dems condemn 'Nationalism', but Americans want to be proud of being American, not to apologise for it.

If you have done nothing wrong, then there is nothing to apologise for, and the USA has been the most magnificent and beneficent hegemon the world has ever known, it has much to be proud of. (I am Israeli of UK extraction...).

It is upon this that the GOP must build its vision, and rebuild an American identity.

For a man without a vision is worse than dead....Mikecnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-74880201121086515662010-01-30T02:57:17.950-05:002010-01-30T02:57:17.950-05:00Transform those dependent on Dem. The o...TY for the link Igstarr. Very interesting.

The only minor concern I have is that it could perpetuate the impression as the party of the rich--financially. There's nothing wrong with ambition and becoming rich but the Rep. party has this perception among many in the working class as the party only out for the rich people that it needs to overcome.

I am a working class person from a working class family and even though politically I support the Republican party I still have this impression of them as a collection of cold and ruthless Mr. Burns types and snobs.

They should really focus on obtaining the American dream, which includes economic success (defined by the individual American) and other less tangible factors of the American dream--happiness, family, living in just and moral society; national security; sensible foreign policies; etc.

A little OT but a very good friend of mine is a housing activist. He often refers to housing projects as "plantations." I honestly don't think the majority of the very poor look at it that way.

Perhaps if the Rep. Party approached issues such as that with outrage over the slavery mentality in the Dem. Party rather than calling the people living in them leeches on the taxpayers they might be able to wake people up and gain more support.

Transform those dependent on Dem. Party social programs into Americans fighting for economic freedom. A daunting task for third or more generations of welfare recipients but I think it can be done.

Transform them into Americans like our immigrant ancestors fighting for the American dream, fighting through poverty.

Just some thoughts I had.Keli Atahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05089132216830000713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-54144996914021161272010-01-28T16:37:41.520-05:002010-01-28T16:37:41.520-05:00Former Arthur Anderson CPA (and J. Paul Getty's for a decade) recently spent several years fleshing out his groundbreaking ideas that would give the Republican Party a serious plan to "Make the Poor Rich and America Wealthier." Check it out here: www.riseupamerica.us

The problem is getting someone inside the Party to support it. So if enough people know about it and start a groundswell to convince their representatives, it could become a reality.

I believe it could be what saves the Republican Party from being accused of having nothing to offer.lgstarrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02752386918407342437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-70255964043787570272010-01-28T15:34:18.855-05:002010-01-28T15:34:18.855-05:00"Joe Wilson's outburst may have been shoc..."Joe Wilson's outburst may have been shocking, but for so many it crystalized what they had been feeling, and they were thrilled to see a congressman willing to say it for them. That doesn't mean Republican Senators need to begin shouting and throwing things. But it does mean that they need to show that they are passionate about fighting for their constituents. Anyone can put on the right sound bite, but emotion connects at a visceral level, projects sincere beliefs and causes a message to memorably resonate. "

Brilliant article filled with truth, especially about the lack of passion in the Republican Party. To get people to think you've got to get them to feel. Joe Wilson's two word outburst energized a lot of people. I know people who after the outburst responded with two words of their own: "Well, FINALLY!"

I was disappointed last night to see so many Republicans standing and applauding Obama's State of the Nation speech. They should have remained seated and not applauded; kept their arms crossed in protest.

(OT but did anyone catch Nancy Pelosi's non-verbal repsonses during Obama's speech? She looked as though she wanted to jump into his arms and kiss him up in a weird, almost quasi-sexual frenzy. I just thought it was creepy and a little scary that a single political leader could evoke that sort of emotion.

It was almost like a repackaging of the "I Want a Man Like Putin" phenomena in Russia a few years ago. It's just scary--dangerous-- when political energy is channeled into a frenzy over one person.

I mean, there is a difference between a leader such as Lech Welsa, charimsatic and uniting Poles and bringing about change and what we're seeing with Obama and Putin.

Let's hope and pray the Republican Party remains a united, passionate party but doesn't fall into the leader worship sort of unity.Keli Atahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05089132216830000713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-52526816024809720122010-01-28T05:35:40.228-05:002010-01-28T05:35:40.228-05:00In addition to the above, perhaps just a note abou...In addition to the above, perhaps just a note about Nazi racism (Mussolini's fascists were not particularly 'racist' outside of their nationalism). AH's racism was not unique, it was shared with other socialist groups of the time; post civil war US progressives for example, Engles was particularly notorious for his anti-semitism as was Karl Marx (who kept a slave girl and had a child by her). Stalin hated non-Russians, especially his fellow Georgians, he started putting Jews in the Gulag in 1947, just for being Jews. As for Ukrainians, well read the history books. Most left of centre groups of the late 19th century through to the 50's were racist to a large degree.Mikecnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-82695386115705260262010-01-28T04:02:02.866-05:002010-01-28T04:02:02.866-05:00Since WW2 the left has been able to take the moral...Since WW2 the left has been able to take the moral high ground because Fascism is associated with the political right. The right seem to accept this as well, but even the most cursory study of the history of the 30's and 40's demenostrate convincingly that both Hitler and Mussolini were creatures of the LEFT. See http://jonjayray.tripod.com/photo2.html

Liberals have no fear of violence and extremism and will willingly gather it to their cause.

The simple truth is that the current Democratic Party is a Fascist Party and before the GOP can really move for change, this Fascism must be understood in its context by Republicans of both parties. The GOP must retake the moral high ground, like Eliyahu (Elijah), they must take on the priests of Baal, and show them who is the real God.Mikecnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-16434285406809150982010-01-28T01:24:07.119-05:002010-01-28T01:24:07.119-05:00While what you have said is most likely true, I do...While what you have said is most likely true, I don't doubt it; but even so when 2012 rolls around people once again are still going to vote the same way they always have. They don't vote for the best candidate, they vote against the worst candidate … the least of two evils.Following Himhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07716770075660388260noreply@blogger.com
