Rat...Liberalism too prefers the victim to the hero. Rather than strengthening people, it prefers to weaken them. As the media prefers tears to strong arms and figures slumped in misery to men and women raising their heads high, its ideological wellspring of liberalism has replaced "The Cult of the Hero" with the "Cult of the Victim."

What about those of us who simply prefer not to dabble in cults of personality at all?Friar Yid (not Shlita)https://www.blogger.com/profile/10311439778319103094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-82516719847235354102007-04-19T14:51:00.000-04:002007-04-19T14:51:00.000-04:00Dumb-al's behaviour was typical for his kind. He could have eventually died of old age or some terminal illness or even in his sleep, but Hashem let him go out a hero.

Hopefully, someday when those students whose lives he saved have children - they'll tell them the story of Mr. Librescu.Yobeeonehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13067866336964665242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-47034656410784972402007-04-19T09:44:00.000-04:002007-04-19T09:44:00.000-04:00Definitely a hero the entire world should be proud...Definitely a hero the entire world should be proud of.Keli Atahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05089132216830000713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-12929327442974880052007-04-18T19:51:00.000-04:002007-04-18T19:51:00.000-04:00Its wonderful that Romania did that for him!It is ...Its wonderful that Romania did that for him!
It is more wonderful that Bnai Israel had among its chosen sons, a hero of the greatest sort... a man of valor, courage, morality and who embodied the command to love our neighbor as ourself.

He laid down his life that others might live.
There is no greater sacrifice no more priceless gift a man can give to his fellows than this.Chana @ Lemon Lime Moonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11656854855385193867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-33467476685287209022007-04-18T17:05:00.000-04:002007-04-18T17:05:00.000-04:00And it seems to me that Jamal Albarghouti is hardl...And it seems to me that Jamal Albarghouti is hardly an intrepid citizen journalist. He just happened to be on the scene. He didn't go out of his way to cover dangerous assignments.

Under ordinary circumstances, the media would simply use it and label it "amateur video" No byline. Zippo. I am sure part of the bargaining with CNN included a stipulation that he receive on air credit/byline.

What do you want to bet he gets a job offer out of this?

Clearly, Albarghouti wanted to profit from this, and garner fame and glory for himself.

As I wrote--he was on the scene. He decided to take a risk and make a profit. There's nothing brave, intrepid, or daring about his actions in the least.

Had he rushed in to try and stop Cho or even ran to comfort one of the survivors maybe.Keli Atahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05089132216830000713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-81278707190089722932007-04-18T16:44:00.000-04:002007-04-18T16:44:00.000-04:00Sadly, there will always be those who would rather...Sadly, there will always be those who would rather stand by and film coverage of someone who is drowning--and those who will jump in an try to rescue the drowning person.

How tragic and ironic that Mr. Librescu died saving the lives of his students; doing for them what people failed to do for his family 60 years ago.Keli Atahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05089132216830000713noreply@blogger.com
