Most of the corruption found in the "western" governments is different from their thuggish communist peers, but only by degree.

In the USA there is certainly hidden corruption of the kind you talk about here, but there is much a more common corruption called government regulation, which is almost always a "legal" way to keep out competition, especially new competition which may be willing to work much harder, have better innovative ideas or just be cheaper. The corruption of senseless government regulation - and I am talking at the state and local levels too - is endemic in the USA. Does someone who cuts hair really need a "cosmetology" license officiated by some government agency? Why does someone who drives a taxi need anything other than a drivers license, even if it is deemed necessary for them to have some sort of "commercial" license?

The power of government to restrict and control markets and then abet connected cronys (who invariably "give something back", although it is always to the politicians/bureaucRATs) supposedly in the public interest is also corruption. These are just more ways, albeit legal ways, to keep out the competition and give control of sections of the economy to cartels of politically *connected* criminals.

But for me the question that your article begs is this: When the government serves as the enforcement arm of a criminal conspiracy, where does one go for justice? And when the media is a willing accomplice to areas of that corruption as suits their personal sensibilities, the average citizen finds themselves caught in the pincers of an inescapable criminal enterprise, and a criminal enterprise that expects to be thanked for their crimes no less. "I'm fighting for you!" says the criminal politician. "We're looking out for you!" says the criminal journOlistas.Mr EDnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-75863307479659114522012-08-06T09:57:41.858-04:002012-08-06T09:57:41.858-04:00Obama's plan to make every last American a civ...Obama's plan to make every last American a civil servant isn't materially different.Empress Trudyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06073538968722986065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-44356810065133174012012-08-06T06:13:33.653-04:002012-08-06T06:13:33.653-04:00"...we don't believe that government cont..."...we don't believe that government contracts should be handed out to unqualified people on the basis of bribes. I know it’s laser-like because I agree with it – I’ve known about the corruption for years. What I don’t know is how it’s going to end.

It’s a bit like reading the American Thinker or listening to John Madden – you keep hearing about things you already know. The really clever trick is to work out the denouement. Is there a salvation or are we, and our children and our grandchildren, doomed to live under tyranny in perpetuity? Daniel, could you please engage that part of your brain that works these things out.

If there’s no justice, what’s the point? That’s why I keep banging on about Hubris and Nemesis. If you spend more than you make you go bust, the US, the EU and Russia are there and all the over spend money resides in Chinajunk and Oilyarabs but once the first two go bust that money is only paper or useless digits. In old times the populace of bankrupt states would temporarily halt spending what they did not have on items it did not need and flow back to their little patch of G'ds own country somewhere in the midlands and eat home grown carrots, tomatoes and strawberries while dressed in rags and looking worn out till a new economy called them back to greener city pastures. But now? Hunger without relief? Mass starvations? Total chaos? All easy victims for the Islam that likes it's adherents poor and powerless.mindRiderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12160934421830568737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-35826358255756100222012-08-05T22:55:53.440-04:002012-08-05T22:55:53.440-04:00You could have captioned the one picture "Gra...You could have captioned the one picture "Grandpa and Bubba go to war"Chana @ Lemon Lime Moonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11656854855385193867noreply@blogger.com
