In its essence, this conflict is an Islamic war on the Jews in general and against the existence of Israel, in particular. The entire Moslem world is against the existence of Israel. The Islamic Republic of Iran, which has absolutely nothing in common with the Palestinian Arabs -- except Islam -- threatens to wipe Israel off the map. The Hamas charter quotes Muhammad in its call for genocide against the Jews and the obliteration of Israel. One way or the other, the question of Islam's religious rejection of Israel's right to exist must be dealth with.Montedorohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08564693529310379108noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-13196452641601648162009-08-17T21:34:29.278-04:002009-08-17T21:34:29.278-04:00No one seems to be addressing the fact that, for a...No one seems to be addressing the fact that, for any useful discussion regarding territorial sovereignty for a Palestinian state, it's entirely reasonable to demand that Egypt and Jordan contribute land--not Israel. These are 'displaced Palestinians'--really, just useful idiots for the purposes of terrorism, but people nonetheless, and they are not an Israeli problem. They are a muslim problem.waynenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-33200611279170646292009-08-16T19:36:51.746-04:002009-08-16T19:36:51.746-04:00Possibly the process is not as complicated as it m...Possibly the process is not as complicated as it might seem. Whatever part of the West Bank Israel decides to give up should be under the control of Jordan. The Gaza Strip should be under the control of Egypt. The UN (United States) should give them whatever help they need to control the areas in question. The governments of Jordan and Egypt may have serious problems but not as great as the creation of a terrorist state between Israel, Jordan and Egypt. And, it is the best long term interest of both Jordan and Egypt.Lightfoot Lettershttp://lightfootletters.vox.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-16125738059256887632009-08-16T13:48:05.588-04:002009-08-16T13:48:05.588-04:00Great article on how peace could theoretically be ...Great article on how peace could theoretically be achieved assuming there was a level playing field and both sides genuinely wanted peace.

Of course Israel wants peace, the Arab nations don't want it at all. In order for a genuine peace process to germinate, it will probably take another Mid-East regional war to show Arabs that fighting Israel is futile. And even that might not be enough to get intransient Arab nations to recognize Israel's right to exist as Jewish state.Marcnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-7600494818216567502009-08-16T08:57:07.573-04:002009-08-16T08:57:07.573-04:00With all due respect Sultan, Israel really doesn&#...With all due respect Sultan, Israel really doesn't need peace with the arabs. It has prospered despite the lack of peace like no other country in that dysfunctional part of the world. It has in fact prospered like no other country except the USA for that matter. Read George Gilder's new book "The Israel Test." He lays out a thorough expose of what Israel has become and what it will be in the future.
Peace will come when the arabs value the quality and length of their own and their children's lives more than they hate the Jews.
Until then all the diplomatic political correctness and enabling the enemies of peace by the "enlightened" western powers just gives Israel that much more time to become stronger and stronger.Morry Rotenbergnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-76274189170306892612009-08-16T07:18:18.558-04:002009-08-16T07:18:18.558-04:00Excellent Piece.

In practical terms, the various Arab regimes have nothing to gain from ''peace'' - hostility to Israel serves them too well as does anti-Americanism. In any case, Islam as an ideology cannot accept the existence of a sovereign Jewish state.
Our problem is really how to get rid of the Arabs, in particular, the Israeli Arabs, a slightly less priority on the Arabs of the West Bank. If we don't get rid of the enemy Fifth Column within Israel, we will end up like Lebanon. This is an issue which is avoided, covered up with liberal BS rhetoric, for the most part, we are in denial.
Most sane people know the ''peace process'' is a sham, a charade.
But the inner dynamics of Israeli politics, our rather dysfunctional political system, pulls every successive gov't. including the current Netanyahu coalition, into supporting some kind of ''peace process''.
Objectively, we have higher priorities than the Palestinians, Iran & it's proxies on the security side, overhaul of the political system & educational reform on the domestic side.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11368628.post-71451690197122381292009-08-16T00:49:27.224-04:002009-08-16T00:49:27.224-04:00Obama and his handlers don't want peace in the...Obama and his handlers don't want peace in the middle east.
