The Noose Around Israel's Neck

Israel is being hanged on a public gallows erected on the grounds of the United Nations with yards of rope gleefully supplied by the Muslim world. But the hangmen are mostly Westerners who still think that the Muslim lynch mob at their doorstep can be pacified with the death of a single victim.

There are three things you can do when you are about to be hanged. You can walk proudly, recite a glorious line or two to embed your martyrdom in historical memory, and then allow yourself to be hanged. Jews have an extensive body of experience with that brand of martyrdom.

Alternatively you can plead your case all the way to the gallows, arguing that a mistake has been made, that your case has been improperly reviewed, begging for someone to listen and do something. This way also ends in a hanging. But it's the hanging of a slave without even a shred of dignity attached to it. A man that dies pleading with his murderers, and puts his fate in the honesty of the liars and hypocrites whose own crimes makes the worst of his look like virtues, is a craven fool.

Because there is really only one thing you can do when the noose is being placed around your neck. Resist. A noose works by tightening around your neck and cutting off your air or breaking your neck. If you resist the tightening of the noose, you may actually survive. On the other hand if you follow through all the procedures, if you allow your hands to be tied behind your back, and the noose to be fastened around your neck while trusting in the system to do right by you-- your death is inevitable.

For seventeen years Israel has been walking toward the gallows. Its leaders have led it there by the nose ring of international assurances. Its people have been led there by refusing to see what is waiting ahead for them, even while the blood was being cleaned off the streets. Every attempt to reach a peaceful solution, every concession and show of good faith, has only tightened the bonds around its hands and the noose around its neck.

That is because every concession Israel has made, has further restricted not only its ability to defend itself, but even its ability to do basic things such as build residential housing in the capital of its own nation. Every gesture and agreement Israel has signed has bound it to ever more restrictive terms. And none of them have brought any peace. All they have ever done is set the bar higher for the next round of concessions demanded by the enemy and its aiders and abettors in the next phase of negotiations.

This is not a peace process, and it has never been one. It is a public lynching. It is the lynching of a country whose only real crime is that its existence offends the religious fanaticism and prejudices of a billion Muslims, who control much of the world's oil, and whose followers are willing to riot and kill in the streets of nearly every major city in the world at the slightest offense.

The lynching began as a trial where the murderer wore a fine suit and his victim sat in an orange jumpsuit in the dock. Every day during the trial, the murderer would be allowed to leave the courtroom to kill again. And every afternoon he would return to the courtroom with bloody hands that the judge and jurors would pretend not to see. And if the victim dared to call attention to those bloody hands, he would be silenced and told that those murders too were his fault. Hadn't he after all provoked the murderer into committing them?

Now the trial is coming to a close. The farce that the proceedings ever had anything to do with peace is unraveling. And we can thank Hamas and Obama for that. The endgame is all too clear. The undoing of that "mistake" which allowed the oldest and most persecuted minority in the Middle East to briefly reclaim their homeland from the tyranny of Muslim Caliphs and Sultans. To serve as a homeland for their persecuted brethren from the east and the west. From the south and the north. That mistake.

In a year in which the Iranian regime raped and murdered protesters after a stolen election. In which China and North Korea continue torturing and murdering political dissidents. In which Saudi Arabia and Dubai live off Southeast Asian slave workers. In which Venezuela's Chavez continues shutting down independent media outlets and imprisoning opponents. In which Turkey continues holding thousands of Kurdish political prisoners while occupying Cyprus. In which Russia continues to dismantle democracy and murder journalists. In which Sudan continues perpetuating genocide and the rest of the world nods mournfully but continues on with business as usual. In that year, Israel is the main culprit for such dastardly acts as reportedly assassinating a Hamas terrorist leader in Dubai and intercepting a flotilla providing aid and comfort to Hamas. Every country, including the nations on this list, are rushing forward their condemnations and demands that Israel be held accountable. Accountable for what? For refusing to be lynched.

Every time Israel tries to be accommodating, it instead takes a step closer to the gallows. It allows the noose to be tightened around its neck. And every time that happens, it has to fight harder for air. Eventually if things keep going this way, there will be no air at all. Only a sad forlorn figure swinging in the hot eastern wind from the desert. And cries of Ibtach al Yahood among the rubble of cities and gardens of Jerusalem, Haifa, Tel Aviv and Ariel.

Israel cannot survive by accommodating a lynch mob. Only by having the courage to defy it. When the international community at the behest of the Muslim lynch mob dictates the parameters of Israel's survival, it must expand those parameters by pushing through them to the other side. If they want to recognize terrorists, then we kill those terrorists. If they want to break the Gaza blockade, then we retake Gaza. If they want to unilaterally create a Palestinian state, then we annex those territories. Accommodation is a noose. Defiance is the air of freedom. Every time Israel retreats, it is condemned for it. When it advances, it is condemned for it also, but its freedom of action expands.

The world will always condemn Israel regardless of its intentions. But like any form of namecalling, those condemnations only gain power when Israel allows its actions to be dictated by them. Israel is not condemned because of what Israel does. It is condemned because of a diseased pattern of Islamic bigotry, left wing radicalism and international dhimmism converging in one place. This is a pattern of hate that cannot be undone. It can only be ignored.

When you listen to the threats and taunts of those who hate you, you give them power over yourself. If you try to accommodate your behavior to gain their favor, their outpouring of hate for you will only grow. For it is not your behavior they hate, it is you. By showing weakness, you invite attack. By giving your enemies power over you, all that you accomplish is to drive them into a feeding frenzy at your vulnerability. If you go on this way, you will either be a slave or a corpse. A slave if they have any use for you alive. A corpse if they don't. Either way you have put your head into the noose they made for you.

Israel cannot go on this way. No country could for long. Yet it does, marching on toward the gallows, protesting that there has been a terrible mistake here. But there is no mistake here. None at all. The executioners nod sympathetically and promise to look into it, as they bind his hands behind his back. It's a farce and everyone except the dumbest among the lynch mob, and the condemned knows it.

But like the condemned man refusing a blindfold in the anecdote who's scheduled to be executed, we keep being warned not to make trouble. Go quietly. Breathe deeply. Soon it will all be over. What will the world say, if we resist? Exactly what the world says now. That we're the neighborhood bully. The troublemakers that are the cause of all the troubles of the otherwise peaceful nations of the Middle East. The worm in the lovely healthy apple otherwise covered with Muslim tyrannies.

Every threat that has been made has come about when Israel made concessions, not because it refused to. Every time Israel has chosen the high road, its enemies have ambushed it from the low road. It's past time to wake up and start learning some lessons. The noose is drawn. And the nation is gasping for air. That breath of air was Jerusalem. The next one will be the Galilee. And then what? How many more breaths do we have left before we choke and die?

Before Oslo, Israel was threatened with terror if it did not comply. It complied and the terror increased manifold. And if did not negotiate further, it was threatened with international isolation. It negotiated. It gave. And it was isolated anyway. It was threatened with boycotts, and it gave, and the boycotts came anyway. Now they threaten the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state. Followed by a One State Solution. Followed by international intervention. Noose, gallows and all. And does anyone think that all these will not come about anyway, if Israel gives Abbas and his terrorist cronies their own official state with a capital in Jerusalem?

No compromise has worked until now. Which means no compromise will work. A process in which one side repeatedly compromises and the other side repeatedly threatens and takes, is not a process, but a holdup. If a man threatens you with a gun, then you might think that you can buy him off. Until he returns again and again. And then it is no longer a threat, it is a process. Israel is in that process, or rather it is being processed. At the end of the process is death. If you pay attention only to the gun, and not the pattern of threats, you may keep giving in, until you have given up your home, your wife and your children, and you have nothing left but your life. And then you will lose that as well. That is the nature of the process. To survive, you must not see the gun alone, but the process it is part of.

The last month should have been a final education. A grim testament to the fact that even when Israel withdrew from Gaza, allowed Hamas to control it, and did nothing but prevent Hamas from having outside access, the world is howling as if Israel had filled the country with graves from end to end, as Sudan or Iran or some of the other members and former members of the UN Human Rights Commission have. That is not justice. That is a lynch mob. And what does Netanyahu do in response? Like nearly every Israeli government before him, he backs off on the blockade. Because given that tidbit the lynch mob will be appeased. It will, won't it. Won't it?

We are no longer talking about negotiations. Or any serious discussion of a state. We are talking about the world rising up in one voice to defend the rights of a genocidal organization funded by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad whose charter includes the words; "The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him." The pretense is over and done with. This is not about anything resembling peace. This is about death. This is a lynch mob. Some come willingly. Others think that they have no choice. That a single murder will buy them the tolerance of the Dar Al Islam.

This is what a noose looks like. These are the gallows. As its hands are bound, Israel loses the ability to defend itself. As the noose tightens, Israel dies. Only by resisting the noose, can it survive. Only by fighting to free its hands, can it resist. The way of surrender is the way of death. And after Israel dies, its own hangmen will be next. Because the lynch mob has only begun. Its appetite is whetted by death. Its hunger will only be sharpened by blood, not sated by it. And it will cover the world in blood, if it is not stopped. But now the noose draws tight. Only a little more air is left. What will we do with that air? Appeal for justice, or fight with all our strength to rip the noose away. For now the choice is still ours. When the noose has done it work, it no longer will be.

Well, the chances are against it and the odds are slim
That he’ll live by the rules that the world makes for him
’Cause there’s a noose at his neck and a gun at his back
And a license to kill him is given out to every maniac

thank you Mr.knish for your logic. Its about time someone let the people know the truth and not the web of lies that the main street media feeds them. now if only you could find someone who can translate your website to Hebrew so the sleeping majority in Israel can get the truth and rise up against the leftist media dictatorship then maybe we can all save Israel once and for all. if you translate it they will come, and I will personally make sure they wake up. more power to you my brother.

  6. Thanks for again reading my thoughts, and eloquently turning them into words.

My views are clear and have been since 2002, just months after 911, when normally intelligent people were already searching for reasons to 'move on' from the actions of a few 'isolated extremists', or were resorting to self criticism to excuse Islam's contempt for the free world, that Israel cannot survive as a Jewish state beyond at best halfway through this century.

Eight years later, and now I give Israel another 25 years, at best, before it ceases to exist except as the memory of an honourable, courageous experiment that was overwhelmed by the lunacy of a single man promoting the message of intolerance and savagery.

Although Islam has expanded by devouring its neighbours through Europe, Asia and Africa for 14 centuries, the tragic if not hysterical irony is that it has numbed through violence and coercion the most advanced civilisation in the history of the world, into marketing it as a peaceful and tolerant religion.

  8. Brilliant and sobering, in equal measure - as are so many of your pieces.

I hoped that Netanyahu would prove a tough leader but it seems we need a Ben Gurion or a Golda Meir to stand up to the international fondness for Muslim fanatics and appeasement.

Things are getting scary - rather, more scary.

  10. Great work as usual. In addition to the countries you listed whose crimes this year far outweight those of Israel, you could also add:

    * Syria for its renewed rape of Lebanon and brutal suppression of dissent

    * Morocco for its continued occupation of Western Sahara and brutal violations of human rights there

    * Saudi Arabia for its invasion of northern Yemen and the resulting massacre of Houthi rebels

*Egypt for the suppression and massacres against the Coptic minority

*Pakistan whose state-sponsored persecution of the Ahmadiyya minority led directly to a number of massacres notably the coordinated attacks on their mosques earlier this month. Also whose security service the ISI is both funding and advising the Taleban.

    * Indonesia for the continued state sponsored persecution of Christians and Bhuddhists leading to frequent massacres.

    * Malaysia for its official state policy of suppression and persecution of Christians leading, for example, to coordinated attacks on 9 churches in Jan 2010

...basically you can add just about every Muslim country.

But, and this is the really interesting crux, a number of Western countries have committed 'crimes against Muslims' that FAR exceed anything that Israel has done, but receive barely a murmour of criticism:

    * US and its allies in Afghanistan have killed many times more civilians from bombing and drone attacks than were killed in Gaza in 2009. Although this occasionally brings out the Muslim and leftist protesters the scale of fury is a tiny fraction of that directed at Israel for lesser "offences".

    * Switzerland's ban on Mosque minarets brought minor condemnation from Muslims and some leftists but if Israel had brought in a similar law then we would certainly have seen mass worldwide hysteria and UN resolutions against its 'apartheid'.

    * In many Western countries (notably Holland and Austria) elections have brought stunning advances by political parties fighting almost exlusively on an anti-Islamism agenda. Again similar gains by such a party in Israel would have seen mass worldwide hyteria and UN resolutions against its 'apartheid'.

  11. Briliantly put. However, who is this column addressed to? To us? Not enough. It should be distributed all over the web.

AND it should be sent to the PM and every centrist and right wing MK in the Knesset with a note saying: "YOU KNOW ALL THIS. You have the power to stop the hanging - WHAT are YOU going to do about it NOW?

And demand an answer. If only to embarrass them. Because their course seems unwavering: to keep their jobs and to continue to fool the Jews until it's too late to retreat.

The standard operating procedure for the most reasonable among them goes as follows:

    - Make nice speeches. Promise, promise, and promise again. Mental Prozac for the Jews.

    - Blame appeasement on someone else: Obama. A weak PM. Or call it a necessary sacrifice, a tactical retreat.

    - Continue to support present policies out of fear of a more leftist government. (Which would do exactly the same.)

    - And continue to reassure Jews that eastern Jerusalem is safe. Really.

Sadly, Jerusalem is all they dare to defend now from the large 1967 territorial gains.

To citizens' concerns that Jews are not allowed to build in E. Jerusalem, that the PA manages the area, and that Israeli police no longer assist Jews in fear for their lives over there, well, that doesn't mean anything, believe me - they say. We won't give up Jerusalem. It's a promise.

    ReplyDelete
  12. There is a lot of madness and irrationality in the world, but Israel takes the cake. There just isn't any way to explain Israel's behavior since 1967.

It's not just the political mistakes. Or the desire to accommodate. All that is within the range of human fallibility.

What boggles the mind is the complete unwillingness to learn from past mistakes. It's as if Israelis are in a trance.

Leftists have turned into outright zombies, loving their killers.

Others, who hold some notion of what's ahead, still ALLOW the government to proceed with daily retreats - small and big ones - and do nothing but wait and hope for some miracle - or a new US administration (that will still treat Israel as a vassal state).

This column says exactly what I've felt for a very long time. I cringe at every official apology, at every "investigation", at every IDF directive to be gentle with the enemy. And daily, at every appeasing gesture.

What is there to say after this column?

Unless something drastic is done to change course, politicians will continue to lead Jews to the gallows.

  14. Very true article, which anyone should be able to understand.
and Neighborhood Bully is among my favorite lyrical Genius's most inspired works.
His point best displayed within the lyrics' entire context, but it's all good.
Israel, the worlds' smallest ever "portrayed" bully, indeed.
In truth, an inconvenient scapegoat for the world which just will not go away!

Love these stanzas of the song too:

"Well, the neighborhood bully, he's just one man
His enemies say he's on their land
They got him outnumbered about a million to one
He got no place to escape to, no place to run
    He's the neighborhood bully.

The neighborhood bully he just lives to survive
He's criticized and condemned for being alive
He's not supposed to fight back, he's supposed to have thick skin
He's supposed to lay down and die when his door is kicked in
    He's the neighborhood bully.
    ...
Well, he got no allies to really speak of
What he gets he must pay for, he don't get it out of love
He buys obsolete weapons and he won't be denied
But no one sends flesh and blood to fight by his side
    He's the neighborhood bully.

Well, he's surrounded by pacifists who all want peace
They pray for it nightly that the bloodshed must cease
Now, they wouldn't hurt a fly. To hurt one they would weep
They lay and they wait for this bully to fall asleep
    He's the neighborhood bully."

That remains so relevent, it could have been written AFTER the flotilla incident.

Oh the hypocrisy of this world, all together against Israel which is smaller than our state of New Jersey.
    It's ridiculously evil.
Too bad every media release about Israel is not shown against a background map showing the size of Israel compared to all who surround them!

I am very upset that obama promised $400 M of our tax dollars to gaza after the flotilla.

beautiful article. It seems to me if Israel wants to survive, it has to deal with its Moslem population the same way Islamic and Arab governments deal with their own Moslesm populations. like in Iran, even smallest forms of protests against the Islamic government results in people going to jail and getting raped . any wonder that so many Iranians are leaving the country and taking refuge in Western countries like U.S that they oepnely hate? One Journalist recently got a sentence of 9 years in prison for insulting the leader!( I dont' care if they rot in jai. thoes of them who escpae Iranian prisons and come to U.S, start writing and talkig against Israel and supporting other fascist Moslems as soon as they come here)
If Israel deals with its internal Moslem enemies the same way, soon all of them will leave Israel.
retaking Gaza is wrong. one million lazy Arabs who only want to feed on others will come with it. Israel won't be able to deal with the international pressure.
I just heared in the news about these one hundred thousand haredim who went to streets protesting some small school issue. if All these people would gather in front of U.N headquarters in Israel, protesting the approach of these terrorist ships, before they got close to Israel, if these thousands of people would gather in protests more often asking for the release of Shalit, Hamas and other Islamist countries propaganda couldn't be so successful. can you please tell me Why they dont' act in such cases? why no one asks them to act? aren't they interested in their country's survival?

    Hey there!
Don't know who you are, but your words ring true!
I remember listening to WINS, hearing that Ehud Barak was prepared to give Arafat everything including the kitchen sink; I cried, really cried in disbelief. But, as usual, Arafat walked away. The US should have realized at that point that Arafat and all his ilk want the elimination of Israel. Nothing less. Please 'O Israel....WAKE UP! Please, please wake up and smell the coffee. Before it's too late. Yes, Hashem is watching over us, but don't forget that he watched the destruction of two Batei Mikdash. Let us hope and pray that the Israeli leadership will have the courage to withstand American and European pressure, and realize that we ARE in the 11th hour.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Virtually the entire UN recently voted to deny Israel's right to defend itself, a final wake-up call for Israel. It's now the world against Israel and Israel's policy of accommodation is now exposed, beyond dispute, as strategically and politically bankrupt.

According to military experts, Israel lacks the needed resources to mount an effective attack upon Iranian nuclear facilities using conventional arms.

So only an Israeli first-strike, nuclear attack can stop Iran. But that's a political non-starter because the repercussions would destroy Israel. Israel can survive the cutting off of American aid but Israel cannot survive a total economic blockade and embargo.

Obama would have his excuse and would eagerly participate in a world-wide economic blockade and embargo of Israel.

That is the first of many realities Israel must face.

Obama has already decided that he can live with a nuclear Iran.

Which means Iran is going to get the bomb.

Israel is going to have to figure out how to live with it too.

That's the next reality Israel must accept.

Israel can withstand conventional armies and conventional attacks.

It is a nuclear attack upon Israel, direct or terrorist, which poses a mortal danger to Israel.

Following Israel's liberal left will lead to Israel's surrender and dissolution or genocidal extermination.

The Israeli left is a greater threat than Islam because they are blocking the implementation of effective defensive strategies.

That is the third reality Israel must accept.

There is only one effective strategy for dealing with a nuclear Iran and nuclear Islamic terrorism.

That is the fourth reality Israel must accept.

That strategy accepts that if necessary, Islam will continue to throw logistical resources at Israel, for the next 1000 yrs.

That strategy recognizes that Israel is under assault from Islam, that 'rogue' nations and terrorist organizations are merely Islam's agents in its war with Israel.

That is the fifth reality Israel must accept.

Which leaves two more realities Israel must accept.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Part II
That strategy recognizes that Muslims do not value their nation's, tribes or individual survival and, that there is only one thing that Muslim's cherish more than Israel's death...the survival of Islam itself.

Therefore, the only strategy that has a prayer of deterring a nuclear attack upon Israel, is to make Islam accountable.

That strategy would consist of a new doctrine that would declare that any nuclear attack upon Israel, by any nation or terrorist organization... will bring a nuclear response; the utter destruction of Mecca, Medina, the city of Qom and the demolition of the Dome of the Rock.

Such a doctrine must also account for the predictable response of the West and the UN; an embargo and/or blockade of Israel.

So Israel's new doctrine must also include the proviso that any embargo and/or blockade of Israel by the West or UN will result in the nuclear destruction of the Saudi and Iranian oil fields and the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz.

Islam would now face a choice; a nuclear attack upon Israel will result in all of Islam's holiest shrines, ceasing to exist within moments of a nuclear attack upon Israel.

That is the sixth reality Israel must accept.

Announcing such a doctrine with its identification of Islam as Israel's enemy, will necessitate Israel acknowledging its possession of nuclear weapons and Israel accepting the consequences of telling the US to-go-pound-sand. The ending of US aid to Israel.

That is the seventh reality Israel must accept.

It's time for Israel to stand on its own and to institute a doctrine which targets Islam's holiest sites and the Saudi and Iranian oil fields and the Strait of Hormuz.

Israel's back is now up against the wall and the only hope she has is to make absolutely clear to Islam and the US, that should Israel fall, they shall pay an unthinkable price.

It's time for a game changer.

1.5 billion Muslims cannot be held responsible but what makes Islam, Islam, can be held hostage.

Islam's holy sites are of inestimable value to the Muslim. A pilgrimage to Mecca is a holy duty and the fifth 'pillar' of Islam.

If the Imam's and Mullah's want to risk Mecca becoming a glass parking lot, too radioactive to be visited for the next 50,000 years...

Like the Japanese in WWII, the Imam's and Mullah's won't believe the Israeli's will do it, so a demonstration of resolve will have to be made.

Israel must level the Dome of the Rock.

When the Muslims go nuts, Israel must calmly look Islam in the eye and say, “OK, now you know we're serious, do you want to go for Medina next or do you want to put Mecca up on the table too and go 'all in'?”

    ReplyDelete
  24. it might indeed come down to that

I don't want to promote treason (mostly because I'm quite cowardly and won't push anyone where I couldn't go) but the only answer i can think of is that eventually someone's going to have to wrestle the Israeli gov out of the hands of the secular/left.

The Dai Leumi party is closest to that goal and that's probably why they are getting demoralized these days (gush katif expulsion, etc)

Sometimes it seems like the whole world is a body, and Israel is that small part of the body that whenever it gets touched, everyone gets soooo excited! So bothered! They're all beside themselves! Every move Israel does makes the world nuts.

But just like the Biblical Joseph, who resisted the temptations of Potiphar's wife, Israel needs to resist the call to give and give and give concessions after consessions --we are only creating bad "offsprings"/outcomes for ourselves. And the only way I see this happening is w/a leader who is unafraid and not simply reactive.

What does all this mean for the regular simple Israeli citizens? Some how they/we need to embolden ourselves to feel righteous, to protest.

  29. Same can be asked about politicians in many countries, including the US and Europe. The answer is that politicians follow the path of least resistance and sometimes most corruption.

Never have I seen such irrationality and obsessive focus by the liberal world against Israel for not compromising its own security. The leaders of the world should be ashamed... not ONE national leader has come out loud and clear that Israel has the moral and legal right to defend herself.

I was proud to be Canadian because of Canada's pro-Israel stance, but the Obama-like neutrality from Canada "wanting to see more facts" before stepping away from world opinion makes me realize that even Canada is acting like a sheep.

No government will speak out: there is not ONE national leader that has stood up and called this kangaroo court for what it is, while any 12-year-old should be able to figure this out. It's no moral dilemma at all.

Pilar Rihola, a Spanish politician put it well when she said that otherwise intelligent people, when they regard Israel, turn into IDIOTS. See her speeches on Kitman TV.

Thanks Sultan Knish for saying what needs to be said. The rational world with all our small voices, must make all our voices ring loud and clear, and let our politicians know it, that the world had better regain its sense of real justice.

A letter to a politician represents at least 40,000 of his constituents, and so our letters are powerful and the message must be reinforced before this public lynching of Israel (and resultingly the free world's values) gets out of hand even more than it has.

  33. TO DALLAS - Re: THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT

I too was disappointed with the government's stand regarding the flotilla investigation, which basically echoes Obama's.

But to Prime Minister Stephen Harper's credit, he has been a strong supporter of Israel, its right to exist, its right to defend itself, and in other issues as well. Netanyahu was received very warmly by the government on a recent visit to Canada.

This week, in response to a "Helen Thomas moment" by a leftist member of Parliament he vigorously defended Israel's legitimacy and criticized the MP's assertions that Jews had been occupiers since the birth of modern Israel.

Here is the video of Canadian PM Stephen Harper speaking in Parliament:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljA3xVLP-n0&feature=related

It's possible that PM Harper is more of a Zionist than many of the members of Netanyahu's government, but his statements have to be restrained for reasons of diplomacy. He can't appear to be more right wing than the Israeli government!

It should also be noted that the US takes Canada for granted and is used to push the government around. There may have been more than subtle pressure applied on Canada to side with the US in this matter. If so, it does not bode well.

It is easier to agree with the greater population than stand for what you believe to be true. Unfortunately, nowadays people have turned almost zombie like and adopt the opinions of someone/anyone who has any leadership qualities, even if bad without question. It is very sad indeed.

My home, my heart will always support Israel. Always.

    Absolutely right Daniel.

Have been saying this for years. A strong Israel that punishes those who attack it, and punishes them in a manner such that it hurts, will be respected by Muslims as well as the international community, for they know that any nonsense will only lead to further punishment.

Over the years I have advocated that Israel should annex territory for each terrorist attack that leads to the death of Israelis. It will soon get through to the Islamic states that this is a no win game, and they will forcefully stop the idiot Leftists from creating any situation that will cause Israel to punish them. By the mid eighties, Israel would have had a nice strategic buffer, and maybe even a kind of peace.

By appeasing Israel only whets the appetite of the Islamists and Leftists, as well as indicating to neutrals, that Israel must have a weak political and moral case, and that is why it is surrendering itself.

STOP IT ISRAEL. STOP BEING SUCH A MUG.

  38. Daniel Greenfield,

I'm open to other strategies but given the circumstance see no other viable one.

Realities must be faced or as you point out, the slow march to the gallows will continue.

    Miriam'

Yes, "eventually someone's going to have to wrestle the Israeli gov out of the hands of the secular/left" is correct or Daniel's gallows scenario will play out.

The Gov't. isn't stupid, just locked within its premises and the 'logic' of the world-view they necessarily impose.

I was born in 1948, my step-mother's Jewish (whom I adore) and I've been a strong supporter of Israel my whole life. I've been focused upon this issue since 9/11 and it's been a long journey. From examining the premises of Just War Theory to understanding the infrastructural geo-political foundations of Islamic terrorism. To the Left's post-modernism's nihilism to coming to understand the nature of appeasement to understanding the Arab shame culture to understanding the strong horse-weak horse dynamic and finally, to the necessity for Israel (US+West too) to learn a difficult lesson.

I've only recently accepted the conclusion that Islam itself is the problem. What prevented an earlier acceptance was a natural reluctance to hold an entire religion (or cult) responsible.

What enabled me to finally do that was in finally making a break through in understanding the theological reason (see my first comment below post) why Islam is the way it is, the theological impossibility of reform or an Islamic reformation and, why moderate Muslim's are complicit in the violence.

Once I did that, my prior premises evaporated and I was easily able to formulate the strategy I've laid out above. It's not smarts, it's premises that form bedrock beliefs that prevent obvious options from occurring to us.

    im2sloe4u,

Thanks, I have no contacts that would enable me to take this strategy to Israel but I am putting it out there on numerous blogs, including Caroline Glick's.

Now that "anonymous" has shared Sarah Honig (previously unaware of her) perhaps I'll share it with her too. So I'm doing what I can.

"So Israel's new doctrine must also include the proviso that any embargo and/or blockade of Israel by the West or UN will result in the nuclear destruction of the Saudi and Iranian oil fields and the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz."

    Makes perfect sense. If only,
You're assuming that the USA would sit by whilst all this is going on and let Israel take the Saudi and Iranian oil fields? I think it's more likely, that the USA would act against Israel first and if after, would finish off that the mullahs started.
    Free our hands!

I'm not suggesting that Israel seize anything, just make a compelling threat that an embargo/blockade will result in the nuking of the oil fields upon which the West's economic survival depends.

My assumption is not that the US is willing to lay a nuke on Israel (we're not), which the US would have to do to stop a determined Israel but whether Israel can find it's backbone (not looking good).

If Israel could find it's manhood, it has the West by the 'short hairs', it's just too nice to fight dirty and delusional enough to think that the US won't really let the scary monsters get them.

Time to man up, face reality and make the hard choices.

    "

and there is your answer Geoffrey,

Israel will not do that, because the US will not let it.

Like it or not the US is not on Israel's side. If it's interest are threatened, it will nuke Israel. The US has never been there for Isreal unless it benefitted her.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Shlomo, many people are praying that the current US administration will somehow be removed from power, as obama & all his chosen ones are especially bad towards Israel.

but I am not sure if the US has "never" been there for Israel unless it benefitted her? I am not as educated as others here about political science, history & such.
Nixon (in spite of his negative traits) sent Israel military supply during the Yom Kippur War. As I heard the story, he told Golda Meir that his mother was a christian and had made him promise her that "if it ever really came down to it" he would help Israel. Thus he felt compelled to send military & medical supplies during the Yom Kippur War when Meir requested it. His mother had passed away before this.

In any case, even if the government is against Israel, this nation still has thousands upon thousands who support her on their own.

When politicians do something that they can exploit, they will lie.

Bush didn't invade Iraq to benefit the Iraqi people, but that is what the official mantra was. To help the Iraq's be free from dictatorship. Of course that doesn't explain why he didn't invade Saudi which is even worse, and attacked the US at 9/11. He didn't say we did it for the oil (which is now going to China and other enemies of the US)

    That is what Nixon did.

The US HAD to intervene, simply to stop the Russians from getting a foothold in the Mid East. Nixon's anti-semitism is well documented.

So he exploited that, and said "my mother told me..." just to curry favour with Jews he needed.

Any other President of the US would have done the same. Nixon merely exploited it cleverly.

Same as in Afghanistan. The US didn't fight in Afghanistan for the Afghani's during the Russian invasion, it was to drive out the Russians.

To put it another way, not even a staunch Xtian Zionist would help Israel if the US interests were threatened. Thus confirming what i said first to Geoffrey. That the US will attack Israel if it threatens it's relations with the Arab world in any way. All Israeli politicians know this.

    ReplyDelete
  44. @ Shlomo~~ "That the US will attack Israel if it threatens it's relations with the Arab world in any way."

A rather cynical assesment...but I believe you're right -- if B. HUSSEIN Obama is still president.

However, if your prediction ever comes to fruition - regardless of who's pres. - we can kiss our a$$ goodbye as a nation.

    God in heaven forbid it!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Shlomo, nixon's own reputed anti-semitism makes him personally without defense. Only the one act of aid remains an important historical difference to Israel.
Can't know for sure if his statement re "mother making him promise" was lie or true.
However, was it even neccessary to exploit a mothers' forced promise, "to curry favor with the Jews he needed" while he was actually sending Israel aid?
My opinion toward a bigot would be that, THAT "mother-claim" painted himself with no personal merit. Never underestimate the sentimental guilt trip which the memories of a deceased mother can induce. even on a bad boy.

I do disagree with you regarding "not even a staunch Xtian Zionist would help Israel if the US interests were threatened".
because such a person (really scripture studied AND believing) knows that G-d said "... and I will bless them that bless you, and curse them that curse you.."
It doesn't get any clearer than that, and His covenant never changed anywhere in scripture.
The fact is, defending Israel is the ONLY WAY to defend our own interests. Having G-d's blessing is #1 priority. He would make everything else fall into place if we helped Israel.
If our government won't, individuals must do whatever we can.

    Geoffrey Brittain
your strategy isn't feasible on both a technical and ethical basis:
    ethical, which becomes technical aswell:
    1. threatening holy sites' destruction allows many the opportunity to paint israel with the same brush as the Taliban who destroyed ancient buddhist structures
    2. This will to some degree validate pre-emptive attacks by anti-Semitic & Muslim groups against historical jewish sites in Europe that remind people of the holocaust. The effects of this will be felt in future generations where evidence of the holocaust will be greatly diminished in the face of holocaust-deniers
    3. It is just plain wrong to do something that causes suffering to hundreds of millions of Muslims (Muslims are people too) if it can be avoided
    4. Imagine the effect this would have on Jewish minority groups throughout the world

    technical reasons:
    5. There is no way to conclusively prove who the perpetrator of a nuclear attack is, so how can israel justify their response?
    6. Muslim heads of state aren't the only powers that want to destroy israel. What if iran sells a nuclear bomb to a neo-Nazi or other non Muslim extremist organization which then carries out a nuclear attack?
    7. There are also powers that want to destroy Islam but don't dare to because of the possible repercussions. But they could launch a nuclear attack on israel and watch israel become their proxy for their actions
